If one chooses this option they are informed and aware of how it works. For some it allow them to NOT forget to turn the head light off. There are trade-offs on everything one does. Want head light? Just turn the switch to RUN.
Having a choice is what we build, CAMO at Camoteksystems.com

As a licensed amateur radio operators... We have a LOT of radio spectrum (frequencies / bandwidth) to transmit on. It is a bit interesting that a lot of military vehicle collectors are licensed (HAMS). There are three classes.

See my thread on the flakey return line hose. Thought I saw some there. Maybe a better picture of the injectors.

$140 bucks each for AMG is not bad. Sure it is suckie for what seems so simple. Want to fall out of your chair? ... check the price for a new one of any late model of truck on the road today.
Good thing it doesn't have a computer in it, CAMO
IMO... the IP is not that big of a deal. The magic trick is revealed by studying up, manuals, TM's, exploded views, UTubes, understand all the bits. Couple of special tools ? a clean and organized bench. Not much more than the old days of a carburetor rebuilds. Remember those? Check balls...
There's a gummed up pump in Vegas (Maxjeep) and this latest one (Humveegene) with the throttle cable bracket bolts punched thur the housing, add with a broken solenoid power feed thru post.
Buying tip of the week. Non runners... RUN AWAY, CAMO
This is a different rig, PUMP and Solider..............
What a F ing MESS. That sucks. It could be salvage BUT best to bite the bullet on a new / rebuild IP. That part is the insulation plastic off the solenoid.
Question ??? Can you see the flywheel vanes spin when cranking?
Not a fun day...
Something to watch out for with "NON RUNNERS" Could be this could be that...Could be anything. I know good deals can be had on nice non runners... BUT it's a crap shoot... SO plan on getting wrenches and wallet out with finger crossed. The gang here working hard to get another HumV back on...
The governor linkage looks a bit bent and metering valve in a hard clockwise position ?? Likely gummed up metering valve and more. Are those parts free to move wiggle and giggle. Terms for proper movement.
Stuck and this IP sucks, CAMO
YOU are absolutely RIGHT for all the reasons stated & 14ga wire too. The HMMWV "RUN" position is typically about 2 Amps. The "START" position about 6.5 Amps to pull in the solenoid, then the holding winding / contacts do the rest.
The switch I posted and it's rating of 70 inductive Amp is...
Another frustrated Father fussing with a HumV from a remote location. From the fumbling and my attention span... Got lift pump flow and pressure. Asked for flow and numbers. Got a big squirt ? OK better that a dribble?
Crack a few more injector lines. Turning engine over (170 RPMS min)...
Maybe time to back up and verify fuel flow and pressure feeding the pump. Real numbers / data.
I got lost in the poking around, this and that, CAMO
Happy Fathers and HumV day,
Lately pumps fails seem to be on the rise. The injector pump on the outside looks simple. Fuel in... fuel out at the right amount, right place and time. Yep, you know that. Most operators remove and replace. First timers not a lot of fun. Old timers...here we go again.
Trucks having been...
