FYI. GovPlanet no longer allows partial payments on items $5k+

The mistakes i see here - 1) bidding with credit. 2) calling GP before you thought it through. 3) making emotional statements. Don't tell your bank the card is stolen. Why make a false statement of fact? Have them close it without giving a reason... although GP likely won't charge the card...

FYI. GovPlanet no longer allows partial payments on items $5k+

It's hit or miss. I've had good experiences, bad experiences, and everything in between. With a large enough sample size, you'll experience it all, pretty much evenly divided across a bell curve. Without jwade to intervene, I'm reluctant to take the risk of bad experiences... had to get him...

    Daily Deuce

Skinny nailed it. 3 groups of people cosnider these as a daily driver: 1) young and inexperienced, who don't know what they're getting into. 2) someone in a bind who has little choice. 3) a very small sliver of the population is very specific circumstances that make it a perfect fit. As to...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Why would you replace it with a bolt? Are you one of those guys who puts pennies in fuze boxes?

    no data plate

It's not that you get to "decide", what year it is. GP will defer to your "research" as the what year it is. If you're making the year determination arbitrarily to influence value, this can come back and bite you later. My suggestion- take the date code off the engine and use that, as long...

    Deuce startup!

Anything not seen to run is presumed not to be capable of running... Bar it over, get everything lubed... And don't trust the brakes.

    5 ton recovery

For me, the rear blowouts are much harder to control than either of the steer tires. What's your take?

What did you do to your deuce this week?

I'm old and feeble. And thankfully we had allotted plenty of time. Honestly, I was *sore* the next day. I'm sure silverstate55 could probably have done it faster without my "help". But I learned a lot and feel confident that I would be competent to do it now. Which is a good thing...

How to turn up fuel on M35a2?

The difference is knowing when to back off. Evidence suggests that you do. How many melted pistons have you seen on stock settings? Or conversely, how many of the melted pistons you've seen were from turned up fuel? Head gaskets anyone? Let's try this - let's load an M16A2 halftrack onto an...

    1500 mostly uneventful miles

A couple of weeks ago, I picked up an M923 and drove it from near Chicago to just south of Albuquerque. Unlike most of my trips, this one was relatively uneventful in the scheme of things. The truck is a KS RSMS truck, which already stacks the deck in my favor. Further, the previous owner...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Silverstate55 and I replaced the complete clutch assembly and rear main seal in Carnac's M35A2 a couple of weeks ago. This was a learning experience for me, as I had never done a clutch before. It was pretty much a 15 hour job, with both of us working on it. A piece of channel wedged from...

Talk to me about getting an M1078...

Nice explanation. Believe it or not, I'm familiar with most of that, having lived in cold snowy mountainous terrain. (As an aside, you can keep as much of that cold wet crap to yourself as possible... :) ) What confuses me, is he quoted my post where i state that GP treats these trucks like...

    I'm confused.

Talk to me about getting an M1078...

I've seen them drained with a drill. "Doesn't run" is anything from needing a jump, to a seized engine. GP views these trucks as scrap metal and treats them accordingly. Dragged in gear, forklifted, whatever.
