A one time, low level exposure almost certainly won't cause any problems. If you worked on this stuff all day every day then it would be a bit bigger deal.
Though I advocate the use of an N95 mask any time there's particulates flying.
On the list of exposures to worry about, the CARC dust...
Be cautious charging with the trucks alternator. That's been known to kill them. Since yours were already charged enough to start the truck you'll probably be ok.
Walmart has a decent little battery charger for less than $100. You can clip it to the battery posts with the batteries still...
Bumper and fairlead - bumper from 3/16" sheet, 1/2" plate, and channel for the center. Fairlead from 3/8" plate and 2 nested steel tubes. Brushguard from schedule 40 pipe. And I repurposed 5ton shackle mounts for good measure.... it's now living on the front a a fellow SS member's CUCV.
Title requested 7/15. No EUC required. Title received 10/15.
Color is listed wrong on the title. I don't care, and hopefully neither does AZ. We'll find out Tuesday when I go to license it. (M925A1)
Unless the deuce holds special sentimental value, or is something very special, it can't possibly be cost effective to move it across the country. Let me play with some numbers -
You get lucky and get it moved for $2500.
I'll assume it's an average M35A2, valued at roughly $6k.
Sell it for...
With 2 fully charged batteries you'll be fine for Saturdays events. I've ran these things 10 hours with the lights on without an alternator.
Suggestion - disconnect the alternator and get through Saturday on batteries. ...
I've been thinking about fabricating a 2 battery box and placing it in the center console position, leaving room for a passenger seat. I was thinking mrap seat, but anything should fit...
THIS! Annoy the other bidders until they give up in disgust. :)
Or the guy that wants all 19 lots will give up and let you have 1 lot just to keep you from running up the prices on all of them.
That won't work well when there's 60 identical lots of the same thing. Do you pick just one lot? Or do you risk winning multiples?
Here's how that plays out - there's 60 lots. You want one lot. You're willing to pay $1000 for it. You toss a bid of $1000 at one of the lots and walk away. The...
Case in point - the 340 mile trip took an extra day, and was punctuated with a crankcase full of coolant.
The 1000 mile trip is ongoing as we speak, and I can't stand the thought of another moment in the cab. Maybe it'll be complete tomorrow evening....
I completely agree that differences in speed pose a safety hazard. With that in mind, can someone explain to me why California has different speed limits for different vehicles on the same road?
Here we sit discussing ways to avoid it, and the People's Republic essentially mandates it legally....
I consider these exact things actually. Stirring the pot is good, as you may provoke someone to think...
60mph is pretty much wide open in an M925 with 11.00R20's, so I don't really have the option of going faster. The speed limit in this area was 65mph, so I wasn't all that far below the...
