My 5ton at the Target parking lot.
I consider my mildly lifted 1 ton Dodge DRW somewhat marginal as a daily driver. Sure, I can get it into most parking places but it isn't as maneuverable as a little car would be.
However , there are circumstances where I'd consider my 5ton as an acceptable...
I've used okcauctionservices and I've also used fastenal to ship things. Both have been good.
For picking things up from the gl warehouse there in OKC I'd go with OKC services as he's there daily picking up stuff and does more than just ship...I've got another pallet of stuff for him to pick...
That reason is offroad performance. Load carrying ability and load handling stability are better with duals and a shorter sidewall for less flex.
But yeah, it really depends on the application. For most of us these 5ton trucks are toys and really doesn't make much of a difference either way...
Started repainting my 925. Rattlecan paint and Hazard Fraught $20 sandblaster. So far the front bumper and bits of the winch and frame extensions. Planning to go front to back, sandblasting and painting as I go. The frame extension is still wet in this pic.
I need a 5ton trailer with MEP005 genset and 600GPH ROWPU picked up and stored, or picked up and towed to a nearby storage facility. Or give me a quote to deliver to Tucson AZ.
The genset and ROWPU are mounted to the trailer, the trailer's tires show inflated. Weight is 17,100 lbs total...
About a month ago I bid and won one of the "fluids drained" trucks out of North Ft Hood. I didn't have the time off work to go get it then, so I had it towed to a storage place in Killeen. This past weekend I had the time to go get a look at it and try to get it going.
First off, I found a few...
Been there and done that with the top coming off in front, holding with one hand and driving with the other. Heavy black Gorilla Tape will fix it and looks just fine. You'll have to replace it maybe once a year. Restitch around the rear window with fishing line.
Or spend $300ish on a new soft top.
My experience has been that the places that won't let you drive off, won't let you tow it off yourself either. They insist you use one of their approved towing companies. Not really an issue in this case since you can drive off in Barstow.
Flat towing one of these beasts with a Dodge is a...
Slave it to start and don't shut it off til you get it home. Odds are pretty good that after the first 40 miles it'd be fine. You have a chase vehicle and can go fetch batteries if the need arises.
How's this sound for a plan: You go by Harbor Freight sometime before going to pick up the truck. Grab 3 padlocks and a 30' plastic coated steel bicycle locking cable. Grab the appropriate amount of the appropriate gear oil and transfluid from wherever. Recover the truck and look it over, making...
I'm not pulling a trailer(unless someone comes up with one they need transported). I don't know the dimensions of the cab. Any chance it'd fit in an 8 foot bed? (I'm guessing not).
I can transport either direction if you have needs. I can pick up at DavisMonthan AFB, or Ft Huachuca if you recently won items there (a nice MEP004 on trailer sold yesterday).
Anything that'll fit in or can be towed by a dodge 3500, ball or pintle hitch. I also have towbars with 3/4" and 1"...
