I guess I need a drive shaft removal primer.
Besides removing the zirk fittings:
What tools do I need to press the joints out, and…
What tools do I need to pop the caps back on after the repair and balance?
I will go with Monroe 65456 at least for the short run.
I understand the limitations.
There is an axle shoppe that will repair and balance front and rear driveshafts. The place is 15 miles from the truck. Not bad.
I will use 3mm thick cold roll to make the turret cap. Plasma cutter and drill...
Truck axle place within 15 miles so gonna remove rear drive shaft and get her retubed and balanced.
Any idea what shocks can be substituted and swapped into these rigs that don’t break the bank?
I did some research on the interweb and made contact with this gentleman.
M1043 A2.
2001???
He has owned it since 2019 and has driven a few 1000 miles.
Currently, he loses power and gets black smoke at speed. He has swapped out a new fuel pump BUT didn’t know the trick to keep the pushrod up...
So… ideas on where to start?
I’m thinking getting the rig to turn over.
What do I need to worry about with the IP?
Common no-start issues after J-6 fuel fudges everything up?
I’ll check the fluids first and then remove the rear driveshaft. I’m told the tires still hold air so I will blow off...

You may have already done this. Not sure from your posts
Just buying parts and throwing parts at your truck without understanding the complete system is dangerous and expensive.
You should always know what you’re purchasing.
Those boxes work with a special windshield IIRC. IIRC that windshield contains special tungsten filaments between the panes...
Turn to Alcohol? Diesel engines run better on other stuff like Kerosene.
Drinking alcohol is much better and lightens things up. 😂
This will be a learning process. Swear jars will be filled to the brim.
No expectations, just gonna start work.
Please identify the vehicle, the year of the vehicle, normally aspirated versus turbo charged, and lots of pictures help of the engine with the doghouse cover removed
Then, we are better able to assist you.
There are some excellent Hummer mechanics who also do Humvees however, their skills...
My vehicle transporter (Daniel who does awesome work in California) told me that the bent shock seems to be forklift damage. Same with the bent driveshaft.
i’m told that the axle alignment looks appropriate and the axle does not appear damaged
I’m told the rig looks relatively new and unused...
