Hummer H1 ran with my idea and got the manual computer bypass device on EBay. He loves it. Gets rid of computer BUT you need to manually shift. You become the computer and torque converter lock out controller.

HMMWVs notoriously resemble curling stones on ice unless you’re very careful and know how to pump your brakes. Siping tires is a waste of time. Chains work well.
Younger drivers need to read up on pumping the brakes in a slide.

I went 765R4 in my M1025. Works awesome.
I prefer my M1165 with 4L80E, BUT there is that tranny electrical stuff. It has a turbo so it has more power. It also has a tranny electrical issue that a 700R4 is immune to.
