Did you put it under load? Diesel engines are notoriously cold blooded. You can also put it in gear, chock the wheels, and engage high idle. That will bring it up against the thermostats and should show temp on the dash.
Looks like a thermal *switch* to me. Where is it located? Many things on the engine are not supplied by CAT. The 3126 in particular, while being a CANBUS capable engine, these features were not really used on the early A1 so some of the sensors are old analog stuff from the 90's.
And this is...
You installed an older CTIS controller with power on the J1939 pins and have smoked the J1939 termination resistors. The older modules can only be used on A0 trucks or other older applications. They only use the J1708 bus and the pins for the J1939 were, at that time, undocumented and just...
Start cleaning grounds. Replace all CB's with fuses. Replace all relays with new ones. Pay attention to 12/24, 5 pin / 4 pin, and integrated resistors, etc.
30 years is a bridge too far for the military grounding system. Remember CARC is not particularly good at shedding water from getting...
I broke a 1/2" breaker bar anvil on the cab bushing nut. Bent the HECK out of C-clamp doing the rear sway bar bushings. The ones that go around the bar itself. That's an ugly job. I think the worst jobs I've done though were the engine mounts, and the sum total of the AC install is pretty...
Yes. The rear axles are duplicates of each other. The A1R system replaces the brake can cross-over hoses with DOT tubing and special fittings so on a 6x6 it deletes six hoses on each axle so twelve hoses on your truck. DOT tubing is much cheaper than hose. The full 6x6 set is 24 hoses for all...
Make sure nothing is jamming the stepper motor? The air lines to the hand controls run up through where the stepper motors are located and if not properly routed the could cause the steppers to be jammed.
If you can't easily fix it right away just install a ball valve on the heater core supply...
There's only two hoses for each wheel that are brake hoses and need to be DOT rated by the book. That said there are better and cheaper hose options if you aren't worried about commercial inspections or are strictly off road like mining or oil field.
The other hoses are breathers and CTIS and...
Eventually - all of them. You'll see.
The most important are the fuel lines - the air sucking issues on the low pressure lift pump side are death for the 3126 and C7 HEUI pump. Also important for the 3116 to protect the fuel pump and injectors since they aren't easy to source anymore and are...
If you can't easily source one in Italy - take it apart and replace the o-rings and grease them with some silicone grease. Will probably work better for a while. You can likely find a similar o-ring from an assortment or hydraulic shop.
The governor is a consumable. They are ~$20. Get a new one from Haldex. Prefer them over Bendix personally. They are necessarily subject to unfiltered and undried air directly from the drier so they tend to need replaced every few years. The rust and corrosion particulate tends to score up the...
They are only supposed to lock when exposed to the negative G forces of braking while being pulled out at a high rate of speed. I would assume they are just fine and put them back. Most quality automotive seat belts work this way and good ones won't nuisance activate when you pull them by hand...
You can call Miles Fiberglass and ask them. You might get somewhere. If the military orders a fiberglass enclosure the kit will come with a parts list on paper. Finding that parts list outside of finding the paper included with the hard topper kit or getting it from the manufacturer is the only...
It's not the same. Top Feed third member LMTV shaft is 55.6" while the bad old design is 59.1". Top feed is exactly 3.5" shorter.
Top Feed prop shaft: 2520-01-545-0448, 16NNS912D404
AFAIK he's still designing something. @ckouba and myself have discussed doing something similar with his truck and I have a couple of heater units to mock it up with. This will be an exercise in AC engineering, sheet metal construction, and finding many parts from OEM or aftermarket...
Pictures? It's a pretty simple board. I replaced a diode in one recently with good success. The diagrams actually even had the diode part numbers so was no guessing of size or specs. Restored the starter button operation so I could delete the previous owners bypass wiring running up the steering...
