    700R4 transmission in a HMMWV

Hey Sir - how did you adjust the TV cable? Did you adjust it at the bracket or did you install a gauge onto the transmission? Chris at Bowtie recommends using the gauge, however I believe an accurate adjustment can be made at the bracket.

M1007 - CUCV Suburban Clone Build Thread

That looks about right to start with, however I believe it could be advanced slightly more. If there is wear between the timing gear and the cam gear, and I would assume there would be if your engine is original, the existing timing would not be not much different than TDC. I suggest you...

Aftermarket 3 gauge set (yes I’ve looked up previous threads)

I agree with Recovery, keep the idiot lights and add gauges. Leave the factory OEM instrument panel as shipped from GM and install the new gauges as stand-alone instruments. Also make certain the idiot light bulbs in the factory instrument panel are not burnt out by paying attention when the...

M1007 - CUCV Suburban Clone Build Thread

Mike - timing too advanced or retarded will indeed impact performance. Have you looked at the timing marks on your pump? If not, shine a light down in front of the pump and see if the 2 timing lines line up. My ‘85 civi as well as my current M1028 seem to have the best power with the timing...

M1007 - CUCV Suburban Clone Build Thread

I've enjoyed following you guys' comments about proper methods to achieve correct timing. I was hoping you could come up with a reputable way to set the timing correctly with a timing light. Having said that, I will share with you the following - Way back in 1985 I had a GM master mechanic...

    6.2 started ticking on me

I know exactly what it is. Several years ago I had a Chrysler which had that ticking sound and it almost drove me crazy. I searched online and discovered a YouTube video which explained the problem and exactly how to fix it. Turns out, it was that darn Turbo Encabulator. Give me a minute and...

    700R4 Swap Into M1009

Forgive me, but why would anyone want to heat their radio?

    700R4 Swap Into M1009

I agree with ehuppert. A 700R4 with 3.08 gears will stay in 3rd gear most of the time. Especially if there is any load in the vehicle. Or headwind. Not being grumpy, just realistic. Save your money and stay with what you have.

    700R4 Swap Into M1009

Whatever. It’s your vehicle, do as you wish. You joined this forum and asked for advice. ChevyMike and I offered advice. It’s up to you to heed the advice or not. I am finished with this thread. Good luck.

    700R4 Swap Into M1009

I will double-ditto everything ChevyMike said, however I would like to add, in my opinion, your stock 6.2 with 3.08 gears will not have enough muscle to get you up those long hills in a fourth gear, regardless if it is a Gear Vendors overdrive or 700R4. You will be fine on flat land not too far...

does the 6.2 need backpressure ?

Dude - This thread is ELEVEN years old. But since you brought it back from the dead - NO - you do not need back pressure. This topic has been beat to death for years. This subject has caused irreparable harm to close lifelong friendships. I know of one divorce and two shoot-outs this silly...

    84 m1009 cucv chevy blazer build-up

No, I have not and do not plan on installing a turbo. The CUCV alternators bolted right up to my 6.5 P400. I plan to install a Bullet supercharger.

    84 m1009 cucv chevy blazer build-up

Yeah that’s the same Flow Koller I installed on my P400. I’m making the conversion to dual electric fans if I ever get around to finishing the dang thang. A regular fan/clutch won’t work on my engine now that I’m going to install a Bullet Supercharger.

    84 m1009 cucv chevy blazer build-up

You will not have any issues bolting the twin alternators to the engine. Everything will line right up. Only thing I will recommend is to align the alternator and PS pump pulleys with the water pump pulley. Maybe a slight casting change after 35 years, but my néw alternators on my P400 were off...

    problem with my cucv

Yep that is it. I believe everybody who owns and drives a 6.2 diesel with a DB2 mechanical pump should have at least one of these as a spare. I keep a new one in my tool box and will probably get a couple more just for the hail of it. Thanks for posting the link.

What is being done to the truck now? Which shop has it?
