While I had the P400 oil pan off, I decided to go ahead and install a new Wolverine Model 16 oil pan heater. This oil pan heater draws 2.1 amps and will be wired together with the OEM engine block heater so that one plug will activate both heaters. I had to sand the aluminum P400 oil pan to...
I recently installed an A/C compressor and brackets on my P400 engine build. I documented the entire process here - https://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?54469-Kinda-got-carried-away-M1028-rebuild/page31&highlight=kinda+got+carried+away
There were a lot of alignment issues which I had...
Thanks for all the posts. I decided to install the oil temperature probe in the side of the P400 oil pan. Details and photos in my rebuild thread https://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?54469-Kinda-got-carried-away-M1028-rebuild&p=2253650#post2253650
Well after much back and forth, I decided to install the oil temperature probe in the oil pan. The Autometer #5441 Oil Temperature mechanical gauge comes with a thermocouple line and probe designed to fit into a 1/2" NPT orfice, however on Autometer's site an alternative 3/8" bung adapter was...

The GM replacement part number is 14066255. It is a discontinued part, however one occasionally pops up on Ebay. If I were you, I would take Rick's advice above and reach out to John at Hillbilly Wizard and ask for a good used unit. http://www.hillbillywizard.com/
Hope this helps.
I believe if I were you, I would consider changing engines before I expended the time , energy and money in a turbo. Back in the 1980’s I was making annual trips from Atlanta to NW Colorado to elk hunt. In 1985 I bought a brand new GMC truck with 6.2 and TH400. Pulling our small hunting...
You need that rod. Just ask Glockfan. He recently broke his TC in half when he hit a dip and the new front driveshaft was too long and bottomed out. Have you searched Ebay? Try 700R4/NP208 rod. You might get lucky if there is one on there.
I already have that bar in preparation of my 700R4 install. It looks to me like it may just be as easy to buy the bar instead of fabricating it. The shape of the bar and hole locations are kinda funky.
