OK I have it finally figured out. The big aluminum spacer that is furnished with the Advance Adapters 50-6901 kit is designed to bolt on to the tail of the 700R4 to mimic the tail of the OEM TH400. This is so that the factory CUCV support adapter 14020861 can be re-used between the 700R4 and...
Tex and Cruzer, I may be wrong, and please forgive me if I am, but I believe we are discussing two different things. The Advance Adapter kit 50-6901 https://www.advanceadapters.com/products/50-6901--gm-700r4-to-gm-np208-adapter-kit-replacing-th400/ is required to mate the 700R4 to the NP208...
Yes it will bolt right up like he said, but the whole end of the transmission and the transfer case must be supported above the crossmember. If you crawl under your truck you will see what I’m talking about.
There are actually 2 adapters required - one internal gear adapter and one external mounting adapter. I believe Chris will include the internal gear adapter which must be installed during the rebuild (you should verify this with him) however I don’t think he will furnish the the taller external...
If you cannot find the bracket, let me know. I am sure I have an extra one somewhere, I just need to find it. Also, if you do find one on Ebay, make sure it is the correct one with the cable extension running straight, not on an angle. Also, make sure the plastic bushing that the cable...
As a follow-up, anytime I can eliminate a possible source of failure and still achieve the same or similar result, I will eliminate it. If I can achieve acceptable transmission fluid temperatures without an extra front-mounted radiator, I will do it. If the Derale pan does not provide...
Cruzer; I am almost ready to begin the install of my P400/700R4. I have a few more things I want to get done, such as braze a couple of aluminum bungs on the P400 oil pan to accept the oil temperature thermocouple and pick-up for the pre-oiler pump. If you are subscribed to my rebuild thread...
Thanks Cruzer. I will indeed reach out to you when the day comes to begin designing and installing my security system. It sounds like your system is just about what I am looking for.
Regarding my 700R4, I will comment in your thread over in the CUCV Modification forum.
All of the improvements in the above threads need to be done. However one of the most useful upgrades I’ve done to my truck was to replace the rear drum brakes with discs.
Thanks. That will certainly prevent the truck from cranking, but it can still be stolen easily. Ever watch “Repo Man” on TV? I want some train horns wired to proximity sensors at each door handle and above the rear glass inside. A tripped sensor would also link up to a satellite to an ap on my...
My M1028 stays locked up in my conditioned warehouse under my monitored security system 24/7. However after I get my P400/700R4 installed, I plan on driving it every day and enjoying it, and occasionally it will be left alone in a parking lot for a few minutes while I buy more ammo or food. I...
Rich -
Thanks for your suggestion however the line that supplies the centrifuge is a small -06AN hose and therefore is not large enough to install the 1/2" NPT sensor without an ugly arrangement of fittings. Also, the supply piping and valve for the centrifuge supply line would induce a radiant...
Tom;
I agree that the best location for the sensor is in the pan, however the oil pan for this P400 engine is a unique, special one-of-a-kind heavy cast aluminum made especially for the P400 engine. I was trying to circumvent removing and drilling the pan because, heaven forbid, if something...
