    Conan O'Brien on an FMTV

Just came across this, pretty cool! It's right hand drive even, I didn't know they made them like that. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AisLe6GLbTk

    brake controllers

Has anyone added a brake controller to their truck? Does the 7 pin trailer plug already have the correct wire for the brake signal? Is there a convenient place to tap into it?

    High capacity drop hitch?

I'm getting ready to weld a 2" hitch to the cross member under the pintle and figure I'll need about a 10" drop ball mount. Most of the ones I'm seeing only have a 5000-6000lb tow weight rating. Draw-Tite has a 12,000lb model but it's only an 8" drop. Are there any 10" versions with a 10,000lb...

    What engine oil?

What commonly available oil should be used in these trucks? Mine is an A0 model with 3116 engine. When I search "cat 3116 oil" I see some people saying it has to use straight 30 or 40 weight but in the TM I see OE/HDO-15/40. How many quarts does it take to get from the "low" to "full" lines...

    inspiration for the overlanders

Very impressive work... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CnHGKUh-5O4 Probably not too great to haul that thing around but lots of cool architecture.

    water fording limits

I've read a couple places that maximum fording depth is 30" without an additional kit. What's included in the kit? What limits the depth to 30" without the kit? Some low breathers?

    Lego model

My boy wanted a Lego model of my truck. Challenge accepted! These are my old Legos that he's now playing with (and me too :D).

    special charger for AGM batteries?

Truck sat for a couple weeks in the cold and then wouldn't start. Two of the batteries were at 10v so I pulled them all out to charge individually with my 12v charger but it didn't seem to take. I even tried putting one of the "good" batteries in parallel with the low ones while charging. Not...

    cab air springs

Can I get a quick summary of this system? How does it work and how should I use it? The TM's have repair information but I didn't see anything about what the system does. When I got my truck, the bags were pinned, and I've left them that way so far.

Source for large blind spot mirrors?

I don't have the OEM convex mirrors on my truck and would like to add some. The only stick-on ones I've found top out at about 4-5". I picked up a pair of these but they're on the small size and fit entirely inside the factory lower mirror so I'm not sure how useful they'll be. Does anyone make...

    Brush guard idea

Want to get your opinion on this. Anything I overlooked or maybe some features that would be nice? I want to mount extra lights and want the "beefy" look of a brush guard as opposed to just a light bar mounted to the cab. This will mount on top of the bumper and hinge with quick disconnect...

Had my M1078 weighed, and a payload capacity question

I took some scrap to the yard today and got the weight of my truck. 18,120lb with cargo cover, spare, half a tank of fuel, spare set of cargo cover frames/bows, and spare set of folding sides. I thought it would be closer to 16,000lbs. Along those lines, I need to move an 8-9000lb lathe a...

    delayed shifting issue

I have this problem in my '94 M1078 where it doesn't want to shift right away, particularly when it's cold. You really have to get into the throttle to get it to go to the next gear. Once it warms up it's fine. Is there an adjustment for this?

    getting license plates in Ohio

I just bought an M1078 and when I went to get plates they said I had to get truck plates because it's over 10,000lbs. So my plates cost around three times that of regular car plates since they go by GVW. It's a personal vehicle, but I'll occasionally drive it for work and haul stuff that's too...

    Let's see your auxiliary lights!

Just curious what you guys have done for off-road lights. I'm thinking a 52" LED bar for the front but not sure where to mount it. I'd like to keep it low but the top of the bumper isn't an option with the cab tilting.

LMTV seat options for three kids and two adults

I'd like to get some seats so my wife and 3 kids can ride in the truck with me. I think I can leave the driver's seat as-is, put some rails on the passenger seat so it can slide forward, remove the center seat, and put a bench across the back. I need to be able to put three booster seats on the...

Picking up an LMTV tomorrow... pretrip prep?

I'm driving about 120mi to get a 17k mile '94 LMTV tomorrow and then driving it home. It's supposedly in great condition with all new fluids and filters. What should I check before shoving off? I plan to have the manual on my laptop and a list of truck towing companies along the way. I just saw...

    What super singles are these?

These are on a truck I'm looking at buying, but I'm not too familiar with the different wheel/tire options. I thought that to run singles on original wheels, the hubs had to be flipped, but that doesn't appear to be the case here. Is this a stock configuration? Ad state that they're 46" tall.

soft brakes, and some more newbie questions

Hi guys, Today I went to look at a '71 deuce that I'm looking to buy as a parts hauler/rolling billboard for my machine shop. I've been reading up a lot about the trucks but this was my first time ever in one. The owner took me for a ride and it seemed like the brake pedal was really soft...
