    Saw these Unimogs

The infamous SEE overloaded and totally ineffective freightliner supplied variant of the 406. If you take off the rear backhoe/front bucket driving it otherwise the 40 mph is a true white knuckle ride

    Kraz 255b

Looks like a bridge carrier/layer. Tatra 813 has nearly the same variant. Kraz is a real beast. Huge truck. I can tell you shipping alone can run nearly 7-8k from Europe to the east coast (depending upon Inland points). There are maybe 5-10 in the USA

    Czech Reader Mil experience?

I can tell you that a Czech translator will cost you anywhere from $50-200 up per page for technical translations. It all depends how technical the material actually is

    Importing Unimog; Form 6 needed?

No, check with your Broker first and be sure there is a dialogue between them and the customs folks. I have imported 119 Unimogs, never had one require a Form 6. What you will run into is that post 1987 unimogs are not EPA/DOT exempt technically, that and they are and can be subject to a...

    tatra 813 new owner

Not a bad looking truck. By any chance is this one of the trucks from the dealer in Denmark? I think his name was Christian. He 20 or 30 trucks. If I recall he wanted to sell them as a package though.

    tatra 813 new owner

Czech Czech - not soviet. lol. I have a Russian heater in my Ural, wow talk about dangerous. From the Asbestos heater lining/insualtion to the heater chamber leaks. I have yet to see an 813 heater that actually works so congrats !

    Unimog dash Tach

I did see one S404.1 with a tach mounted on the steering column, it wasn't VDO but looked definitely like it was mounted at some point in it's military career. That is the only one I have ever seen.

    Unimog Mileage.....S404.114 Swiss

He is lucky indeed to get that mileage. The average is more like 7-10 max. I had a Swiss 404 that I converted to a Pertronix, Bosch copper core wires and NGK 5PES plugs. I think I estimated about 14-15 mpg wihich isn't bad for a little 2.2L 90 hp motor pushing a square 5700 lb 4x4 down...

    Tatra 912-2 upgrades!

Good luck with your mods - I am unfamiliar with the 912 motor, I know the 930 cools ok at idle and has a rather large cooler I know that quite a few in the CZ mount an aux cooler on the rear deck with a cage to protect it. Try dynamat for insuation. We put in the red truck on my avatar...

    Which engine?

All S404.1 models have the 2.2l M180. Only the 404.0 series have the larger M130 with dual carbs.

Russian (and european) Vehicles on Finnish Army

The pictures of the 1500x21 tires (or possibly the 1300x21 Ural type tires) make me want to cry. I have an 813 with mismatched Goodyear tires and trying to get stock tires is like trying to pull teeth they keep trying to sell these old stock tires from the 1980's that are all dry cracked to death.

    Tatra 815-7, I want one

I am taking orders now, just send $100K deposit and expect to wait - :-P they are definitely pretty slick trucks. Don't expect to see them appearing in anyone's yard anytime soon I don't think.

Russian (and european) Vehicles on Finnish Army

I heard from a UK truck dealer that Finland purchased from both ends during the cold war (not but choice when your neighbor is the big Russian bear). I see some pretty Nice Kraz 255b's there - awesome truck but arent' they really wide?

    WARNING

I have delt with Mortar a few times, they had a super clean Kraz 255b on their website for awhile but getting information is pretty difficult. I do not think Excalibur is affiliated with them, but I cannot be 100% sure on that. Excalibur is a large operation selling worldwide, I do...

What the heck is this on GSA auction?

It does look like the IFA-W50 - perhaps a target vehicle ? I know the US imported a number of trucks for evaluation and some for target practice. The IFW's are as ugly as sin but seem to have a reputation for a solid built reliability. APparently after the merger of East/West Germany...
