There is a spray sold at Dollar Tree-- called Awesome -- and its cheap!! Spray it on full Strength & let set aprox 10 min than pressure wash this stuff takes off even baked on grease and all without taking off the paint.:wink:
look on the front of the fuel dencity compensator and there *should* be a little tin cover triangle shaped with some safety wire on the bolts. defeat the wire and take off the cover. wala a threaded rod with two nuts. This is my understanding that the metering rod has a sort of hook arrangement...

With the spider web cracks running vertical also in such a ramdom pattern and no oil residue in the cracks it appears to be cracks in the paint only. That in a non stress area and it is very unlikely to be in the cast iron.:-D
