Picking up an m103a3 this week

All, I picked it up today and it wasn't upside down or on fire! No issues with brakes, axles or bearings and the tires still have the tits on them. The lights even worked. I'm quite pleased with the purchase, but don't think I'll be keeping the trailer as it's a little too big height wise...

Picking up an m103a3 this week

Thanks Matt. I'm going to Mechanicsburg, 100% daylight hours. If the lights don't work, and I'm not home, I stop and get a room. But it's only 1.5 hours each way for me, so hopefully I'll be ok.

Picking up an m103a3 this week

I just looked at the TM, and see that the brakes are hydraulic. Are these surge brakes or what? Thanks

Picking up an m103a3 this week

Hi all, I won an auction for an M103A3 chassis trailer on 10/14, and my EUC has gone through in what I consider to be record time. (Doesn't it usually take months?) I'm doing everything I can to be prepared for whatever I face when getting it, but was wondering if anyone has any additional...

2010 Fall Rausch Creek MV Rally!!!

Thanks for the greetings. I have a slide in camper, but my girlie like the big one. We'll make a decision over the next few weeks. Either way, I'll be there.

2010 Fall Rausch Creek MV Rally!!!

I saw the thread for this last year, it's about 2.5 hours away from me, so I'll be bringing the M1008 up to play with the big boys. Sounds like a lot of fun. Has anyone camped at the Echo Valley campground? I'm thinking of booking 3 nights there.

    Gilbert Show Stuff

What a fantastic show! Bought a tow bar, finally. Loved seeing all of the cool vehicles and felt like a kid in a candy store for most of the day. Oh, and to whoever was firing off the artillery in the parking lot: first, thanks for waiting until my truck got by you before firing, and second...

    Gilbert Show Stuff

Well, it's official, if late notice. My truck's back in one piece, and I'm heading up to Gilbert tomorrow afternoon. See you all at the show, and if anyone's camping, we'll be at Silver Valley Campground. I'm looking forward to meeting you guys! Home - Silver Valley Campsites - Pocono Mountains...

Understood, but I don't like the chrome.

    M1008 urgent help needed

If anyone has the original M1008 locking hub(s) available, I'm in the market. I HATE the look of the warns.

That's really cool, Billett. I LOVE the aircraft guages. Are they functional?

    Painting the M1008

Money? Paint's cheap. If you don't have a gun, take it to the local high school / community college body shop and they'll do it cheap or free. I got my paint here: Majic Paint YEN 8-0855-1 Majic Camouflage Paint, Desert Tan | Autobody Miscellaneous

    Painting the M1008

My truck didn't have the troop seats, but yeah, it slid right in.

    Painting the M1008

I think I'm going to spray tan over the liner. In hindsight, black was probably not the best color choice for 90+ degree days on the beach. Lol.

See my paint thread: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/paint-bodywork/52414-painting-m1008.html Here's mine, before and after. I really like the tan, but in hindsight, I probably should have done more body work than I did. I think I'm going to camo over the tan, pseudo-digital if I can pull it off.....

    Painting the M1008

10 hours to dry is what the can says, I painted it and walked away for the evening. I did one double coat, sprayed it on fairly heavily. It held with no sag.

    Painting the M1008

Bedliner is done. Thanks to a buddy pitching in and helping out with the project. Now to remove the bench seat and line the interior. I need to drill a drain hole and install a rubber grommet cos I'll be hosing it out after coming off the beach, so I'll dump some water in after the liner dries...
