Checking in again. Finally mostly finished the tiny off grid house and am mostly moved in! Still moving the shop stuff from the old house. Been daily driving the lmtv and tire wear is silly as is 10 mpg! 60 miles from the old to the new! Olga is ready to make the 60 mile trip but with no...

Seriously looking at lmtv need input please

Why would one need to pull the rockers and pushrods if the cam stays in? Bear in mind. I'm thinking like a gasser...

Seriously looking at lmtv need input please

I've read that the cam gear can be pulled with a decent three leg puller. That would be the route I'd go. That or find a diesel shop and throw money at them...

Seriously looking at lmtv need input please

I may be losing oil there also... for sure it's a crack in the cover though. Plenty visible. Went to check the rear air compressor bracket bolts and much to my surprise, one broken, one missing and one loose as a goose! In the future checking these bolts at every oil change is a must.

Seriously looking at lmtv need input please

Well well... diagnosing an oil leak lead me to the dreaded front gear case crack! She really started leaking bad a few months ago and yes, I did inspect my compressor support bracket about a year ago and it was intact and the bolts were tight. Craptastic! Not sure I have bandwidth to repair...

Well Shes getting naked! Camper Part Deaux!

I see you moved the spare tire and other stuff, do you plan on anchoring the rear of the cab or will you use the air ride?

Seriously looking at lmtv need input please

The other day when parking my 16k air brake equipped trailer, I inadvertently unhooked the trailer supply gladhand whilst the knob was still in the supply position. It seems to me that there should have been a blast of air? No such... the trailer brakes work fine but it's always taken a long...

    Exhaust tailpipe mods

I removed the muffler and using stock pieces, routed the exit to the passenger side.

Long and very steep... never noticed it smoking before. Longer steeper and heavier pulls. The leak repair will suck. Pulling the power steering doesn't sound fun.

Seriously looking at lmtv need input please

Been driving the heck out of this truck! She is behaving pretty well. Still need to finish the ac and do the sound and heat reduction stuff... finally got a cargo cover and frame and I love it! Brand new three color! She started leaking oil and I need to steam clean it so I can find the issue...

    Starting camper build tomorrow

That's not too bad. Our one ton dodge with camper was 12,4" to the top of the ac.

Talk to me about getting an M1078...

Well, I think you have a great plan and although I feel buying an lmtv that won't require a lot of work to make it drivable for less than $4000 is unlikely, with the right attitude nearly anything is possible. Lots to read here of course and he will learn plenty. These trucks do have some quirks...
