M101a2 trailer bed on a M116 running gear

To the group: With a great deal of help from GimpyRob I picked up a M101A2 trailer, brand new in the crate. I had an M116 generator trailer, and wanted to swap the flat bed for the M101A2. Physically, that hs been done. The dilemma to me, is how to fasten the two together? Pictures of...

Acquired a Military surplus load bank

I managed to pick up a TS-4216/G load bank (0-33kW) that has some issues and a parts unit for about $400. I guess I did pretty well. I have not dome anything with them yet besides bring them home, but they are on the project list. The military seems to be scrapping them, as Gimpy has seen some...

    Loving My -803A

I wish I had one. I understand they are great machines too. I have an MEP-003a that does the hob for me. I do wonder, if your load meter is working correctly. You should be pulling far more current than that with all of the things you mention you are running. Perhaps you can borrow a clamp on...

Got a load bank from GL looking for a manual, or some help.

I have acquired a 0-33kW load bank, that looks like it might be made by Electro Services, but it has a Libby Manufacturing tag on it. Built in April 87, It appears like it might be an early version of the Electro Services A427. It is a LCNFM1, 6625-01-220-2619 Does anybody know anything...

    MEP-003a Fuel Line Question

The check valve is located between the second fuel filter and the IP. It is held in place by a metal strap to the motor. It looks like a union between the two hoses. I run ULSD diesel with some Dextron ATF as a lube substitute for the sulphur. I am not aware of anyone using Bio-Diesel on these...

    MEP-003a Fuel Line Question

It is typical to find crud and rust at the bottom of the fuel tank. Obviously, it will need to be cleaned out. The fuel lines are 1/4" ID rubber (nitrile, I think) with JIC fittings. I am in the process of replacing all of mine, as I have a problem with the fuel coming back on the return line...

New to me MEP002A Few issues

First off, congrats on getting a runner without a lot of work. That is half the battle right there. As a suggestion, and there are many schools of thought, pick up some Diesel Kleen, and run that through the pumps, filters and the IP until you see it coming back on the return line to the tank...

    MEP 003 frequency meter

I have seen these meters on the large auction site for around $40. The meters have a 200ua movement. usually the transducer goes south, the meter is probably ok if it shows no water damage. The capacitors in the transducers fail, and since they are sealed units, are hard to repair. An old...

    MEP 002 Fuel Pump

Carter makes an equivalent pump as well. I can't find my notes for a part number. You have to add some elbows, but it is supposed to be the same pump. I priced one two years ago, and they were about $70 new. Hope this helps.

    Ammeter for MEP-002A source found

There have been a number of good sources for these meters. I am a bit surprised that no one has mentioned epay. I have seen all these meters at varied pricing there. In fact, I bought a couple of NOS reed resonant meters as well as meter transducer combinations for both the mep-002a and 003a...

    Flaky frequency meter?

The frequency meter/transducer combinations are notoriously unreliable in this application. It appears the vibration and environment lead to an abnormally short time between failures. The best way is to have another separate meter that you can plug in the convenience outlet and adjust engine RPM...

    Hello from South Central Ohio

Well, I did say I could be wrong. I was thinking that the M103 was a variant of the M101. My bad. sorry.

    Hello from South Central Ohio

The M103 and the M105 are two completely different trailers. The landing leg on the one in the picture at WPAFB looks like a M105 to me. I am no expert, and I could be dead wrong.

    Hello from South Central Ohio

Welcome. There is a lot of good help available here. You might want to check the trailer out carefully. It looked to me that it might be an M105. GL is buyer beware!

MEP-003A Will Not Start - Need Mechanic- Chicago Area

There is one simple thing you can try, which is what Gimpy is trying to tell you. There is a shutoff solenoid, which shuts off the fuel to the engine when you turn it off. It is right next to the injection pump, in the area above the oil filter. Make sure the linkage is all the way up, that...

    MEP003A will not start.

Speddmon is right. There is a wealth of information here. It could be as simple as the IP being gummed up. There are a number of solutions posted on this board. The one I like is to disconnect the return line from the IP to the fuel tank, and pour Kroil in there until it is full. Then I remove...
