Road Trip: Michigan to Wright-Pat Apr 4-5

I did Detroit to WP a few months ago in one day. Not too bad of a drive. Andrew was quite busy around lunch time when I did my pickup, but also quite helpful.

    Picked up my M101A2

I picked up my first MV purchase yesterday... an M101A2 from wright-pat. The GL rep Andrew was very helpful even though he was quite busy at lunchtime. The trailer pulls great, I really like this thing. One note, for winter recoveries, make sure to remove the ice from on top of the cargo...

    Alternative to Bobbing?

I think that is a very clever idea. One thought, you might want to lift the REAR axle up so that the effective wheelbase is shorter. This will help with tight turns, but just remember you have a longer rear "overhang".

    Lifting a Bobbed Deuce

Please do post when you will be at silver lake... I plan to make a couple trips out there this coming summer. It would be awesome to see your deuce out there.

    Lansing MI M818

So what is your plan, drive it? Flat-tow with the deuce?

    Camp dirtbag monster truck!

Because the 818's are just down the road, I've had just this thought of making a cargo truck out of one. Of course, I don't have the skill and experience that Hundy does, so I'll bide my time 'till I can buy a deuce. Hundy - I read all your builds... awesome trucks you turn out.

How to lighten up an M101 3/4 ton trailer?

The only issue I see is brakes. Personally, I would not want to tow 3500# behind a Wrangler without trailer brakes. Especially a short wheelbase Wrangler. My 2 cents. I'm shopping for an M101, and would like to be able to tow it behind my Jeep Grand Cherokee (5000#-ish rating). I passed...

    Mt Clemens - Who's going?

Josh - I was hoping you would be going in the afternoon... I still might take a day off and meet you there if that would be OK... Justin

    I want a deuce

I'm still trying to figure this out. Inside storage is not an option right now, so, hard top, and cargo cover are up there on the list. I much prefer doing mechanical work rather than body work, so good paint is also high on the list. That might be asking too much for a GL truck, though...

    I want a deuce

I think this still applies to the general theme of this thread. I do want to get a Deuce, but still have questions. I've read some of the recovery stories here, and it just seems like such a gamble to buy one from GL. The nearest place with M35A2's is Indy, which is a doable drive for a long...

    I want a deuce

Preacherboy - great thread. I'm in the process of starting the convincing of the wife, to get a deuce. Ironic that you and Haggar both just got yours in the last year, and are also in SE Michigan. I've wanted a deuce since I drove one owned by a college professor in WV. I first mentioned...
