My tuck has the holes existing but I would make templates if you can. I have that exact swap in my 1009. 465/205 with a hydro clutch. Get the crossmember with the 205. It will make the swap bolt in.
I will do that when I put in the crossover steering. I have to replace the steering box at that time anyway for a 2wd box. Just gotta let the weather get a little better before I can tear it apart.
Been a while since I have posted anything so I thought I would post some pics of my latest project nearing completion. It is in the trial phases now to fix anything that doesn't work right. All in all I am happy with the truck. Turning radius is short but workable. It seems to go anywhere I...
I have a sm465 in my modified 1009. I love it! It is a low speed truck in the first place. CUCV's are not meant to be speed demons. My truck has a nice lift and 37" goodyear wranglers. It will cruise at 60 with little effort. I recently drove it across country fully loaded and pulling an M-1101...
Wreckerman, have seen this work as well it is impressive. Not too many of those around anymore. It is however a viable fuel source. Me and Dave gave it some thought a while back but never put anything together.
Something along those lines is what I had in mind. I am contemplating upgrading the glass in the windows to polycarbonate (bullet resistant). After this last trip if just seems that angle would help more than anything. When it stops raining I will start playing with it and report the results.
While on a M813 recovery trip from Indy last week, it became very clear to me that the windshields on these trucks are designed to catch snow. The flat glass surface catches and holds snow and ice. The wipers are usually ineffective. After a few hours it becomes down right dangerous to operate...
I seem to remember someone mating that trailer to a 5 ton frame on here a while back. It was a cool project. The short answer would be yes it will, but that thing is HEAVY....so don't expect to get there fast unless you are driving the axles of the trailer. Take pics and good luck.
It will tow anything with a tongue length at least as long as an M105 as is. I hooked it up to my 105 the other day and it was fine. It has plenty of room to swing. Only problem I saw was it was hard to see back there. Might have to make some extensions for the mirrors to get them out a little...
So I am thinking over the Christmas holidays I will start painting this behemoth. I have to do some trimming in with paint to install some tool boxes under the cutouts on the Camper. It is a toss up for me to paint this truck in an urban snow camo or a Desert Winter MERDC. I really like both...
Installed the 395's on combat wheels, got the camper installed and ready to go. For those that are wondering why it isn't over the cab.....it is overheight if I put it there. I made the needed adjutments and I like it where it is. Weight is centered quite nicely and it gives me room behind the...
Ok guys. I have been out of the loop for a while trapping peregrines and hunting my hawks. Got a little carried away and realized I had not put anything up onthe RV in a while. So here is where it starts. I decided to use a 14ft truck camper that was in grea shape. I bought it for a song. I...
