I would have to disagree to an extent. While it generally takes a higher icing rate to load up a choppers main rotor blades, it is MUCH more of a serious condition if they do. An out of balance situation of as little as a few ounces can cause the entire rotor system to shake itself to pieces...
You could register the Huey as an Experimental with an Air Racing/Exhibition restriction. (It's a BS restriction) It allows you to operate the aircraft "in participation of air shows, air racing and any exhibition event, and practice for said events."
I'm always practicing for my next air...
Not to highjack the thread, but don't be afraid of anything PROPERLY fabricated and welded. Using the right alloys, weld technique, welding rod etc, the finished product will be as strong as anything else.
FWIW, I oxy/acetylene welded aircraft fuselages made from 4130 tubing and then flew...
Try and get together with one of the local Experimental Aircraft Association Chapters. (EAA Chapter) They do have a warbird division and could get you in touch with the right folks to help you get the aircraft safely moved.
Lifting them won't be the easiest way. Get some sort of ramp...
Curious of that myself... The Genset that my friend makes is 4000 watts, and needs 7.5 GPM @ 1800psi hydro pressure...I was going to install a hydraulic pump on the PTO to run it...Figured I could run Hydro chainsaw, extrication tools, winches etc...
This is a friend of mine's dad... 100% Made in USA...
All sorts of sweet stuff...

PTO, Hydro welders, gensets etc... I am waiting to get my Deuce and I plan on installing one on the PTO
Love that big red truck! 395's? That is the size and tread pattern tire I am looking at. (type?) Not to totally hi-jack, but do they ride nice on the highway? And I assume the LDS upgrade was worth it?[thumbzup][thumbzup][thumbzup]:not worthy:
I planned on making the top, for the most part non-removable, I was planning on a full cage inside (think Jeep Wrangler) and the buggy would be a sand rail/ myers Manx type thing, not too heavy, and the ramps would be on the long-ish side, but would follow the contour of the "hatchback" to the...
Thanks! That is exactly what I was looking for... the HMMWV look... However, I had a thought about making the "hatch-back" section load bearing to piggyback a small street legal dunebuggy/fast attack type thing and then tow an Airstream behind it...
Sorry, but the only way I can play in the...
I know it is VERY crude, however, I had an idea and wanted opinions...
please no flaming ;) What do y'all think?
I am thinking crude camping/cargo area behind rear seat area...
Used parachutes have a very long life. The prices I am used to seeing reflect that. I am a skydiver, you should see the prices of new ones. The last setup I priced a few years ago was gonna set me back close to 9,000 bucks!
I am used to seeing the 28 foot conical personel chutes going...
I work at a speed shop and have access to data on just about every electric fan out there, If someone can get me realistic mountable dimensions, I can figure out what fans, voltages, amperages, and CFM's for an ideal setup.
I need radiator H x W and available depth.
Just out of curiosity, what are the actual dimensions of the radiator? I work for a race shop and we sell Maradyne electric fans... I was wondering if two pair would fit? (For a total of 4 fans) Jones Machine makes pulley and bracket systems for water pumps, alternators etc, I have already...
Cool explanation! I am buying 100LL Avgas for around 5.50 a gallon average... It's still a whole lot cheaper than most fuels... I am curious how expensive Coleman fuel is, I always thought that stuff was white Kerosene, not gasoline...
Yikes! I just looked up Coleman fuel... I don't think I...
