Wow! It has been a while since I have been back here. Thanks for the info. I need help with a body change. I have a 4-door Chevy Pickup body I want to install on the Deuce. I figure the comfort of a silverado would be a bit better.
I like this one best!
I have heard of this method before. I just never heard of it used for removing rusted-stuck wheels before. The only tool it requires is a lug wrench.
Back in the 60s a man would pop all four wheels off a car at once by wiggling the car back, and forth. The car would...
Rust
Here is a Man who knows about rust. Acid mixed with salt, and antifreeze splashing all over your Automobile, and eating giant holes in everything. Rust welds so tough that cutting torches have replaced wrenches.
I lost the rubber on the inside dually tire. The outside tire came off real easy. The inside just would not budge. I did the liquid wrench, the wire brush, the blaster penetrating oil, the sledge hammer: with care, and it wouldn't budge.
So,.. I laced a chain through the holes twice. This...
Question?
Is preload something like heel, and toe on a ring, and pinion?
As for junk,.. Are you saying the transmission will suffer?
PS. Many times I have read about the problems pertaining to the Deuce transmission. So far I am running in the pink but it worries me that we are all in...
I quit using those paper gaskets long ago! Now days I use paint because it works much better. I brush on a nice thick of coat of enamel on both faces, and let it dry. Then I bolt it back together. I have never had a leak afterwards.
I even use paint on the threads of my bolts as a thread...
Caddy Kiddy Seat
I once had a 6-way adjustable Cadillac Eldorado seat in a Chevy Elcamino.
The back folded down which was extremely helpful, and it also had a fold down arm rest in the middle.
The vallure Cadillac seat is very comfortable, and it will outlast a leather one; however, the...
Turbo Water to Air Intercooler Long Flow, 13.5"x4"x3.5" | eBay
air water intercooler | eBay
Here are a few small Compact inter-cooler,.. after-coolers, that use water to cool the compressed air.
I had a dream once apon a time. I was going to use an inline unit, and run propane through it to...
An African Missionary I met once told me about his method.
He used an electric shut-off valve to his fuel line.
He hooked that to a magnetic breaker.
He hooked that to a reset button hidden up under the dash.
He also had a trip switch hooked to the push button door switch.
The door switch...
I have been trying to find a better transmission as a replacement unit. Maybe a NV4500???
From what I have read here people seem to fix, and re-fix the same old fragile transmission.
I was looking at the 1000, 2000, and 3000 Allison transmissions, but the junk yard status is slim.
I wish...
Wow!
I see that he had a safety chain locked around the wheel, and tire.
My Grandpa said: Always put a board across the entire wheel, and stand on top of it when you air up one of those big tires.
I didn't want to start an entire thread for this one little itty bitty bit of information, so I started digging through the archives, and found nothing.
Maybe I should done a Google search under S/S.

There seems to be a lot of useful information.
F21
Here is what I use for a belt dressing.
F21 Super Protectant 20.8oz - Turtle Wax
It has changed names, and bottles many times but it is the best thing to use on a fan belt: ever!
I first starting to use it on my leather coat, then the car dash, seats; but when that fan belt started...
Has anybody ever put Dually wheels on the front?
Here is an Old, Old, Old Trick that we used for some serious off road slush.
We change our front end gear ratio to one revolution less than our rear.
Example:
If we had 4:11s in the rear, we put 3:08s in the front.
It enabled a truck to pull...
Buying the Best
ARP Racing sells the best!
If they don't have what you want already listed, you can mail them one, and they will make it up just for you.
ARP-bolts.com | The Official Site of Automotive Racing Products, Inc.
The reason I like ARP is because the studs, and bolts they sell are...
I worked as a glassier: twice.
Never place a sheet of glass on metal, or cement.
My boss used small rubber blocks in a frame: some people like the wooden ones.
Personally, I like using cigarette Butts. They are much softer, and absorb much more shock.
A bead of silicone is great if the...
