New Here, Just started bringing my M-37 back from the dead.

Pretty much all the welding that has to be done on "C" or "D" has to run off the Generator. There's a trailer on the land with power, but not enough amps for most tools. The 125 foot extension cord provides enough resistance to limit me to small hand tools for the most part. Anything I could...

New Here, Just started bringing my M-37 back from the dead.

Pictures of the cargo box restoration I knew I had pictures of the cargo box work I did over the winter.. Finally found them on my old phone. I think one more weekend is all I need and the cargo box will be finished completely. First, a few before pictures from the night I dragged it home and...

New Here, Just started bringing my M-37 back from the dead.

It's not an easy to find driveway, so not too many people know where it is. BUT just as a precaution, I littered the place with spent shell casings and threatening "trespassers will... " signs.

    M37 cab size

If you convert to power steering, then you can put a smaller steering wheel on there. It is also an opportunity to modify the "speering column" so that it is not a lance pointed at your chest.

    M37 cab size

I just put my cab back together this weekend. I'm 6' 185lbs. The cab is plenty roomy enough, even took a nap across the seats... Then I put the steering wheel back in and that all changed. It's a tight squeeze now. Not terrible, but noticeably tighter squeeze getting in and out.

New Here, Just started bringing my M-37 back from the dead.

Been a real long time since I posted any progress pictures. The cab floor was completely rotted out. I welded scrap metal braces into the door frames and cut out the floor in two sections. Then I fabricated a steel box tube frame to replace the floor. The rockers are steel 2x4s and the rest of...

    Upper Kingpin Bearing/Bushing

Sweet. Thanks. I just ordered the chevy C30 master. If I may ask, what machine work has to be done? Can I do it on my 9" lathe? I see they want you to send them your hub to do the work for an additional cost (plus shipping both ways). Is it something as simple as turning down a diameter...

    M37, DMV & Me

My M-37 was saved from becoming razor blades. Too far gone to call it a restoration, I'm in the process of it's resurrection. Just this weekend I put the newly un-dead cargo box back on. It isn't real heavy... I'd guess about 400 pounds. The tailgate is the heaviest individual piece. We...

M-5 Stuart through White castle drive through.

Yeah, I first heard of him when I was a designer at a video game company. I recognized right away that he was and American and that his persona was based on the Russian in the space station from Independence Day. Back then he was making Youtube videos machinegunning failed XBox 360 consoles. I...

M-5 Stuart through White castle drive through.

Guy takes a Stuart tank through the drive through at White castle. Later, at the range he fires the 30 cals and canister rounds from the main gun. I wish people would drive tanks around my neighborhood. FPSRussia Goes to Whitecastle - In a tank... - YouTube

    stripping paint from gauges??

Ditto on the brake fluid. As a kid I would build scale models a lot. If I got tired of the paint job I'd pop it apart and dip the parts in brake fluid - it'd be bare plastic again. It generally takes a few hours to lift the paint, if it's really warm out, it works quicker.

    Keyed door locks?

I'm trying to envision what this is that you are describing. Basically it's like a tent stake that you shove up through the rocker panel and into the door and it stays up in place on a little hanger you mount, right? interesting idea.

    Keyed door locks?

I thought about remote entry, and it's an option as long as I can come up with a manual bypass in the event of a power (or lock) failure. For 11 bucks, I think I will give true value hardware a shot. If I don't like it, it's no big deal. Maybe a garage door handle would work on the tool boxes...

    Keyed door locks?

Hockey puck lock? Like on a plumbing van? Like 1/4" thick stamped steel hasps in a circular guard with a 3" diameter hardened steel lock on it? That's serious! I guess the only way to upgrade from that would be to add a claymore mine right above it wired into the alarm system. haha. Let me...

    Keyed door locks?

Let me preamble this with a disclaimer: I am very well aware that there is no (legal) remedy to a determined sneak thief, and that if one wants to break into my truck he will eventually. It's not the mission impossible schemer who will bring a flat bed to steal from me that I'm worried about...

New Here, Just started bringing my M-37 back from the dead.

Thanks and thanks! I appreciate it! I have some different sized square stock and a 3/8-24 tap... I can make these up on the lathe if there's too much sticker shock at McMaster Carr.

New Here, Just started bringing my M-37 back from the dead.

Update from last weekend. I brought the welder up and started chopping out rust. One bed side is just about ready. I cut the wheel tubs off, cut out the rust and then I made patches from the remains of the rotted outer fenders. Worked perfectly. I still need to grind the welds and weld on nuts...

    My first power wagon

I had to look through my pictures to see if the plug wires are intact. It appears I have 5 plug wires (and plugs) in good condition. One looks like half a plug is broken off on the end of the wire... at least from the pictures. the truck is 100 miles away right now. I'll take them off in 2 weeks...
