Random Oil Leaking From Rear Wheel

Well, I didnt get the posting until I had put everything back together! Thus, the old inner seal is still in place on that side. :( The good news is, I have a new outer seal, I repacked the almost bare wheel bearings (inner and outer) with good grade grease, and I now really know how to tear...

Random Oil Leaking From Rear Wheel

I decided to dig around the site for more info, because SS is a gold mine after all. I came across another useful thread, Inner Rear Axle Seal. There the comment is made "Your outer seal and the keyway cork is how the oil gets in. The rear seal just keeps dirt out and grease in the bearing...

Random Oil Leaking From Rear Wheel

Well, ripped the wheels off, did find some gear oil in the hub, but looks like I got to it in time. No oil on the brakes and they have plenty of pad left. Removed the outer and inner wheel bears - sure enough they have very, very little grease left in them. Good thing I didn't drive off in...

Random Oil Leaking From Rear Wheel

Great responses guys, much appreciated. Beast is stabled. Will get seals and stuff on Saturday, postage-Gods willing. I'll pull off the wheels on the leaky section first, see what there is to be seen, then see if I have time to do the others before my camping trip. I will get them all done...

Random Oil Leaking From Rear Wheel

Just performed a quick brake check. Let the air tanks fill, cleaned the area under the leak, then put a clean paper towel back there as my ghetto leak detector. Jumped into the cab, pumped the brakes vigorously for a bit, then checked again. No oil on the paper towel. This makes me suspect...

Random Oil Leaking From Rear Wheel

Hello Fellow Military Vehicle Enthusiasts and All Round Awesome People, Recently took the deuce out for a spin, nothing fancy, just being a work mule and hauling some siding for my house I couldn't fit in my lesser, domestic vehicle, and when I got home I noticed I had some oil leaking from the...

    Need Tire Advice - M109A3

Thanks Peashooter! I'll see what I can dig up on him. Currently looking between 11.00-20s and the 395 MRAP options. Both good options it looks like. I think really its going to come down to what is affordable and within budget and range. Really appreciate all of the help guys!

    Need Tire Advice - M109A3

Fuzzytoaster - you make some really strong arguments for the case of the 11.00s. Those G177s look decent as well. Just curious, since you seem to be quite knowledgeable - what kind of top speed did you get out of your rig running those tires? Still looks pretty nice as well. I love the look...

    Need Tire Advice - M109A3

Sorry - I could still be convinced to do the 11.00-20s. Im just trying to see what my options are. The upside of the 11.00-20s is that I dont have to get new wheels, an adapter, etc. Still have to run tubes though, and get them mounted. Just trying to gather info at this point. Don't want...

    Need Tire Advice - M109A3

Anyone know if these guys are reputable? http://www.planbsupply.com/#!tires/cxxe Website claims they have MRAP wheels with the XZLs mounted for $395 ea, adapter available. Sounds suspiciously like what I need.

    Need Tire Advice - M109A3

Great responses. Thank you so much! So, if I am reading this correctly, the consensus thus far is that I should: Go with MRAP wheels with tire, bead-locks and run-flat inserts Will need to get adapters to make work with my hubs. 395s are great tires, just make sure they are on the right...

    Need Tire Advice - M109A3

Hello all, The time has come for me to replace the tires on my 1965 M109A3. The current tires I have are the stock 9.00-20 tires that the vehicle came with when I purchased her from Gov.Liquadation five years ago or so. After several trips to the desert they need to be replaced. I had to...

    M109A3 with fuel problems

I promised pictures, so pictures you shall have. Reader be warned, they are pretty nasty. Honestly, it's a testament to over engineering that this guy drove at all. ...when I first took it out. ...the entire side is crud. Luckily the Napa parts store I made it to had an appropriate filter...

    M109A3 with fuel problems

Hey guys, can't thank you enough. Made it to Santa Cruz intact. My primary fuel filter was the culprit, and had a solid wall of sludge on it. Luckily Napa had the parts and I was able to effect the repair. Will post photos later.

    M109A3 with fuel problems

Yes, if us stop for a few minutes, she will usually start up again. Is it possible to simply remove the primary fuel filter, then clean it and replace it? I'm not sure Jackson will have spares....

    M109A3 with fuel problems

Any concern of busting the gasket on the fuel filters when I take them off? I am far from home, and don't want to make the problem worse. I feel you are on to something though. Sorry for my short replies, writing from my phone.

    M109A3 with fuel problems

Hello all, I am in a bit of a bind. Took my lovely Deuce to the desert, and on my way back it has started to give me some serious issues. It is basically acting like it is starved for fuel at times. I suspect it is either the lift pump in the fuel tank, or perhaps sludge in the bottom of the...
