    New Project

I'm shooting for a motor pool resto on mine as well. I'm also trying to keep it as close to factory as possible. If a few bolts are miss matched and new, and some of the guts are newer, oh well. It will still work and still look like it did in the motor pool. Great find on all the stuff man!

    New Project

Yes it does look like a big project. If you have all the time in the world (Like I do on mine) it will help mentally by spreading out the cost of the restoration over time. It can be done though. Like others said, check G503.com and willysmjeeps.com You can download the manuals and...

    Leaf Spring Help.

A majority of them just have surface rust which is easy enough to clean off. I plan on cleaning off the rust, priming, and painting them, then putting them back together. My problem though is that one is cracked all the way though. The crack itself starts on the side, and then goes down the...

    Leaf Spring Help.

Hey guys. While I was inspecting my rear leaf springs last night, I noticed a crack in the 2nd from the top leaf spring. Any idea where I can buy just one spring. I've checked in the manual, and they say it was basically a set so I couldn't get a Part number or NSN. I also noticed, it has 4...

    Steering Wheel Issues

I got it off with some PB Blaster and letting it sit for a while. Then I blasted it again and rocked it off gently with hand pressure. It popped right off. I got the tip from: Jeep CJ-3B Tech Tips on The CJ3B Page Maybe it will help some of the people here as well. :D

    Steering Wheel Issues

I just don't want to damage the splines that attach to the steering wheel. That's why I haven't tried that method. I'll give it a shot I guess, I just don't want to damage the rest of the steering assembly.

    Steering Wheel Issues

It's been a while since I've posted anything about "The General" as the last owner called her. But I've looked in the manual to remove the steering wheel, and they say use a puller (pictured and everything). I've also used the search function on another way to remove it, and all I've seen were...

buying a jeep with a bill of sale and titleing it in VA.

Hey Guys, I know it's different in different states, but I was just wondering if anyone in Virginia has bought a Jeep, with just a bill of sale, and then titled it in Virginia. How hard was it? If it's a parts jeep, then I won't title it, but from what the gentleman says, it runs, so it may not...

    Radiator size and maker.

I'm looking for basically any information I can get on it. The dimensions of the core would be good too I guess. Thanks for the mounting hole measurements. When you get the radiator back, would you be able to post a picture or send it to me?

    Radiator size and maker.

I was wondering what the size and dimensions were for the A1 radiator. I have a radiator that looks of the period and made by Harrison. I'm not sure if it's the correct one though as itw as with that V8. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    10/52 USMC M38A1 restoration project

    53 m38a1 compatability with 55 cj5

I think they will. It should work. I wouldn't see why not. I know people can use CJ5 seats in an A1 and reupholster to make them look more military if I remember correctly. What are the differences in the frame? I'm doing a motorpool resto. If I were to have a CJ5 frame, clearly it's not...

    53 m38a1 compatability with 55 cj5

So if I wanted a more comfortable ride (not going for a museum quality resto) I could just put civy springs on it and it would ride better? As of right now, I have the military springs on it. I thought the same thing. I was told a lot of the CJ5 parts would go with the A1 because the CJ5 was...

    10/52 USMC M38A1 restoration project

You can find a WLA. I've been looking overseas and you can find them in decent shape for around 8 grand. I know it's a huge chunk of change and that's why my wife said no initially. Plus she doesn't want me to have a motorcycle while my kids are so young (3 tomorrow and 4). It seems we left...

    10/52 USMC M38A1 restoration project

Yeah I'm pretty much thinking this will take me a few years to restore it the way I want it to be. I'm not going for a museum quality resto or anything, but I still want it to look good. Hopefully the Army won't put any dents in my plans either, but I'm sure I'll go somewhere for a few months...

    10/52 USMC M38A1 restoration project

Ok so I was able to remove the body from the frame today. The jeep is starting to look a little "thin" and I like it. It's moving a lot faster than I would've imagined. I'm starting to get green fever with these things. Now if only I could get a WLA to go along with it!

    Body question

I was just wondering what would be a good way to place the body after I take it off of the frame. Would it be ok to place on it's side or what? I need it to take up the least amount of space in the garage, but I don't want to ruin the body by doing this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    10/52 USMC M38A1 restoration project

A friend that is in my unit was my roommate and he owns a 151. He got me into restoring a jeep. I originally wanted a WLA to restore, but I have a family and he recommended a jeep because it is more family friendly. I have to agree with him. It's been really fun so far to work on. I'm about...

    10/52 USMC M38A1 restoration project

Hey Guys, I'm a new member here and am a member at a few other MV websites. It seems that this site is mainly for bigger, heavier MV's. But since there was a place for the good old A1 I figured I'd join and post my stuff here too :). I got this Jeep in January after coming home from Iraq as a...
