What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

With the way my windshield leaks at the bottom of the frame, last time I drove it in the rain I think it rained more inside the cab then it did on the outside.

    M-809 transmission fluid upgrade?

I am assuming it has the original Spicer transmission. If so here is what Spicer's website shows: Spicer SAE 50 Synthetic Gear Lubricant for Manual Transmissions Spicer SAE 50 synthetic manual transmission lubricant is specially formulated for extended drain and severe service in heavy duty...

Thanks for the info. That gives me something to think about if I ever have to tow another vehicle. Glad it ended will for you, it could have been much worse.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

This is just for my knowledge only and not in any way, shape, or form saying you did anything wrong as I have zero expirence towing a MV. I am just wondering so if I ever have to tow another MV with my 923A2 I have some more knowledge. Did you use air from one truck to another for brakes or...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I have been looking at backup cameras too and my thought was to hook it up to a toggle switch. I know there are ways to hook them up so they come on automatically when you put your vehicle in reverse, but I like the thought of being able to turn it on while driving if needed to have a rear view...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

3 pages of bashing someone's ramps? Really guys? Can we get back to the topic of this thread "What have you done to you 5 ton this week". If you would like to talk about ramps then we can start another thread for it. If the ramp thing keeps going a mod may shut the thread down. I understand...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Trying to get ready to take the truck to a 4th of July fireworks show tomorrow so I needed to fix a few things. I had an issue with my emergency flashers, an air leak and not building correct air pressure, and my air horn not working. So having some time today and my wife doing better after...

    Emergency Flashers Inop

So I had some time to work on it today which is a good thing because I want to take my truck to one of the 4th of July fireworks shows here. I ended up with dirty contacts and a somewhat loose connection. I went to take the signal switch off and noticed the cable that connects to the switch...

    Emergency Flashers Inop

Thanks tbar. That is greatly appreciated. She is doing good. Still in pain but getting better. I'm hoping in a day or two to be able to get to work on the truck once she is in better shape to do more on her own. Or if I can I will sneak out while she is asleep and pull the signal switch and...

    Emergency Flashers Inop

I haven't had a chance to work on the truck recently. Work got crazy last week and then my wife just had surgery. I need to get her through some recovery from her surgery and then will get back to it and will let you know.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

nopics The first pic shows what tab to use to get to the upload area. The second pic is what will come up. Even if using your phone use the "From Computer" option not the URL option. Then just look through your phone to find the pic. We need to see the 5 ton swimming pool.

    M923 White smoke and knocking

Yeah, there are a couple of us here. I have the one, I have a brother in law that lives in Clint with a long bed 5 ton, a wrecker, and a deuce and a half. There is another guy with an old 5 ton in town too. He bought my old M52A2. My brother in law and I offroad our trucks quite a bit and...

    M923 White smoke and knocking

First off welcome to the 5 ton club from another El Paso member. There are a couple of us here in El Paso. A bit of advice for this site is everyone loves pictures and sometimes pictures can help people give you troubleshooting ideas. Take this for what it's worth as I don't have near as much...

MRAP Rear Steps Installed on an M939 Truck

Pictures would be awesome. I have several people in the family who have a hard time getting in the back. My solution for the time being, which I stole the idea from my brother in law, is use a 8 foot aluminum a-frame step ladder pushed up against the truck.

MRAP Rear Steps Installed on an M939 Truck

Have you figured out anything as far as mounting the steps? I have been looking for something to make it easier to get in the bed of my 923. I like the idea of MRAP steps instead of something that is completely vertical. Like you said it will help with people who aren't as agile getting in...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Yeah, I have done some searches and looked at replacing the handles. My first step will be to remove the handles and see if it is the mechanism or just the handle. I'm not thinking it is the mechanism because the handle inside the cab works fine, it's just the outside handle that doesn't work.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I know where the leak is, just with work I haven't had a chance to pull the line and have a new one made. As far as the handle I have looked at some of the threads. I just need to pull it apart and see what's going on. The inside handle on the passenger side works, but the handle outside...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Nice job in the air leak. I have one I need to fix. It will drop my secondary air down to from 120 to 60 in about 2 minutes with the truck off. I know where it is, I just need the time to fix it. Thankfully I have a couple weeks of vacation coming up and should have a chance to fix some...
