    1941 dukw

They only produced a couple of prototypes at the end of '41 for testing. Actual production began in late '42. The serial is in line with late '44 production so it's likely that the date stamp was a light strike and combined with age looks like 11 41 instead of 11 44.

    Drive train question

Thank you, I downloaded it, but it doesn't cover my weirdo setup. Rare trucks are cool.... Until they need work. :-(

    Drive train question

Ok, will do, thanks all the same.

    Drive train question

If you have access to a manual with that in it, I would be much obliged! I did try banging it in either direction, but had no luck. This has to be the case though, I can't think of any other reason it wouldn't engage that rear end. It has sat since the mid '80's, so its not unlikely that it...

    Drive train question

Yes shaft to splitter turns. When I try to engage either the gen or the drive, nothing changes visibly on the coupler. I can spin the pully for the gen on the shaft, but the truck won't drive when I shift to drive? Like I said, nothing visibly changes with the coupler when I shift. The...

    Drive train question

So, I know it's a long shot, but I have a question about the oddball drive setup in my contact maint truck. The drive shaft goes from the t case to what appears to be a coupler to disconnect the rear shaft when the generator is engaged. However, this coupler doesn't seem to move, and I assume...

    M38A1C with 105mm recoilless

There is one sitting in a yard near me. No gun, but most everything else. Had a 134L swapped in at some point as well? Old guy owns it, doesn't want to sell unfortunately.

    New guy, intro and questions.

Excellent, I hope he can and will shed some light on it for me, I'd love to know. Foxtrk2, looked at pics of yours, definitely the same beast! Does yours have a pioneer kit then? Also I'd love to see more pics of yours, maybe from the back, and of your panel? Thanks! P.S. I'm also a...

    New guy, intro and questions.

A 63 as in 1963? Mine was in active service until '85, at least that's when regular maintenance stopped being done. It came to me straight from the army, and is in'80's camo. I've never been a huge fan of contact trucks, and would much rather have a normal M37, but if its rare I won't alter...

    New guy, intro and questions.

Hey there, new to the forum, but not to MV's. Just picked up a '58 M56c1 contact maintenance truck, and currently also have an M38a1 and an M416. I've owned 7 other MV's, and a slew of civvy stuff. This one is an odd one though. I'm wondering if anybody knows how many were built, and...
