    M1031 generator speed control

Funny story about that. One of the guys in my jeep group was dating a girl whose dad owned a commercial generator company. I showed him my set up and he said he could get it all sorted out no problem for cheap money. Of course before I could do it my friend and his daughter broke up ugly and he...

Hear ye! Hear ye! To all M1031 contact truck owners!!

I'm happy to pay a fair price for anything but there is a long history dating back well before there was an internet of people selling a magic black box that would fix whatever you needed. I have been getting PM's from the OP for a while asking about this thing and frankly when he dropped it...

Hear ye! Hear ye! To all M1031 contact truck owners!!

Well, a steak house is a business and someone trying to help out says "I got a great deal over here and you can too; here's the info." Those controllers are not originals. I'm perfectly happy paying a fair price for anything but this whole thing just seems a little off to me. carry on

Hear ye! Hear ye! To all M1031 contact truck owners!!

I think it's great that you found this but I'm wondering if you are posting this to help out others, or are you a vendor trying to sell a product? If you are just helping then where do you get them and how much do you pay for them? If there is programming involved I think something for your...

    Repaint the M1008

depends on the era and the service branch, Army tan and Marine tan are a little different. My truck is Army and was painted desert storm 1 era tan. The carc substitute 686 tan from Gillespie Paint (rapcoparts.com) was a dead bang match for color and texture. here is a picture of the truck...

    rear load brake valve

I have been thinking ditching my valve as well. The way I understand it is the valve is meant to increase the braking to the rear as the load goes up. The problem I have is that I often tow my jeep and even though it weighs ~3500 lbs there is no tongue weight, so the braking sucks. The fronts...

    Tan paint question

Mine looks like it was painted with a mop. The 686 tan from rapcoparts.com is a dead bang match.

    M1031 generator speed control

The engine just remains at normal idle speed, then slows when a load is put on the generator. This post, http://www.steelsoldiers.com/cucv/30356-m1031-generator-speed-control.html#post321889 shows the missing parts. A relay, which is easy to find, and ESSC speed control, which is the hard...

    M1031 generator speed control

I am interested in the parts source. Even if I do sell the truck it would be nice to have it all working. As it is now I can run my welder (220v) but I need a helper to maintain engine RPM. thanks

    M1031 generator speed control

I have never followed up but there are definately parts missing. There is a local guy here that does commercial power and claims to have the parts but no time on my end. Meantime thinking I might sell the truck anyway. cheers

    who makes the best paint???

FWIW, the Gillespie paint was a dead bang color match for the existing carc on my truck and Rapco was great to deal with.

Anyone Towing With a 6.2 Diesel?

I tow my jeep fairly often with my bone stock M1031, maybe weighs 3800 #. Pulls it fine but if you lose momentum on a long hill get ready for a 25 mph pull to the top. I have been looking for a turbo on here, ebay, craigs and at the junklyards. Not willing to pay a lot cuz I doubt it will...

what is the value of a 1031 maintenance truck ?

I paid $5k for mine last summer, with a california title and a new drive shaft. Has the gen and compressor. no welder. appx 10,000 miles and everything is in full working order except the engine speed control. Still looking for a control box for that.

    M1031

I have the PTO and generator manuals. Send me your email and I'll forward them. At some time in the past I had uploaded them into the resource section but I can't find them there. The TM's for the rest of the box and the controls are still classified.

    M1031 generator speed control

My understand is that the TM's are still classified, not sure at what level but at any rate not for public release. What would really help is a scematic for that control box so we could maybe see if there is a civilian version that would work. Cheers

    M1031 generator speed control

Followup. After getting some good info and part numbers from 1956_4x4 and some additional information from NDT(0) I have found several places that have the relay for $30-$50. The control box is a lot harder to come by. I found one place that *might* have one for $235 but they do not seem very...
