I have it working now.
With the fuel filter bleed open, I pressurized the tank until fuel filled the pump and came out of the filter bleed in a solid stream. Then closed the bleed and did the crank/bleed cycle 5 times until no more bubbles were coming out. Then I could start it.
This was...
No, the fuel didnt gush out of the supply line. Some came out, then it stopped. I put a little air pressure on the fuel tank, and fuel comes out of the supply hose, but it stops as soon as I take the pressure off. The truck was running fine before all this, just had a fuel leak at the pump...
I found my fuel system was losing prime over time, and in order to start it, I would have to go through the bleed procedure by cracking the port on the fuel filter and cranking the engine.
After I got the engine started, I noticed fuel linking around the lift pump. I pulled the pump, and...
If my trucks sits for a few days, in order to start it, I have to crank it, then open the plastic cap on the fuel filter to let the air bubbles out, crank, bleed, crank, bleed, crank, then it starts. It runs fine, unless I let it sit for a week. Is there a spot between the tank and injection...
While I was working on my front brakes and bearings, I noticed that after I put the hub and the hub nuts back on, there was a bit of play in the axle (part that sticks out from the hub nuts). Is this normal? I also found a large nut laying in the caliper when I took it off. I couldnt figure...
I now think that it was power steering fluid that got sprayed up onto the injector from leaking hose. I am replacing the steering lines now. I will start it up tomorrow and find out.
You are correct, as always. And what I thought was a fuel injector pipe leaking diesel was actually......power steering fluid that was sprayed out from a high pressure PS line that separated at the crimp.
I was having this problem until I removed the flywheel cover panel (next to starter) before bolting the starter on. I think it was preventing the starter from mating flush. Havent had an issue for a couple of years.
I am noticing a whining noise with a pitch that corresponds to the RPM. Sounds like the noise you hear when it is in 4wd low. I am thinking it might be the steering pump, water pump, or an alternator about to go bad?
I have fuel seeping out around the fuel injector pipe where it goes into the fuel injector. I tried tightening the nut a bit, but it doesnt budge. Do I need a new pipe, or can these be repaired?
I removed the transfer case and found the seal between the transmission and transfer case was the consistency of chalk. I replaced all the seals. For the record, the fluid leak was coming out of the vent tube on the transfer case. When I removed the fill plug, I got an unexpected heavy...
I parked my truck (86 M1008) last night and this morning I found a puddle of fluid that is leaking from the shield on the transfer case. I cleaned it up, but it keeps leaking. This evening it is still leaking. It isnt a huge leak, but there is a puddle of fluid that keeps reappearing after I...
