I wanted to say thanks for everyone that stopped by the DIY area and maybe took the class about my build. I'm poor with names and wanted to say thanks.
Have had a problem with the CTIS working and not working. But Now the hole air system is down ? Tanks will not build air ? Pump was good. No air leaking up until being parked for about 30 days. Today I took some time to take a look because the driver side tire went flat ? Never had this before...
Air bags will not inflate. Just started ? Where in the TM's is the best place to start ? Have CTIS unplugged. All red lights and flickering ? Going to go manual for the CTIS. But have not started that yet.
Thinking about sanding for some paint.
What grit to start with ?
Did some sanding to look for Unit numbers and it seemed to go very slow.
Ideas ? Thanks
I would ask for your thoughts on the next step in a repair or replacement of my charging system.
I'm on my second voltage regulator. The repair manual is great if you have a "know good regulator or a alternator". Some help.
I now have a 14 volt read light on the regulator.(better than no lights...
I have lost another voltage regulator. $$$
Will having only 2 battery's to make up the 12 and 24 volt system in the truck kill the regulator ?
I have not built the new battery base. Going to use 4 Group 31. But this is the way it came to me from GP.
Did I kill 2 voltage regulator's ? by just...
Anybody try stretching a M1078 fuel tank by cutting it and adding a section? Maybe add a tank hanger to take the weight ?
Was thinking 100 gallons would be good.
What do you think ?
Just had a 20 volt reading on the dash. Then it was back to 26? Next start poor. Lots of clicking then a crank ?
Now back to low charge.
Still need to trouble shoot.
Ideas ? Will a bad battery start this ?
Thanks, Randy
I had a door handle brake and removed it for repair. Also in the door I found a backing plate with 4 rivnuts. Looks to be a backing plate for the door latch ?
I the photo you can see the 4 holes.
Must be held on by some bolts ? Any idea what kind ? Think I will go with button socket head ?
So I walk out to the truck and click ? Door will not open.
Oh, know the dreaded broken door handle. (much crying)
I removed it from the door and , yep broken lever. (dam)
How about some JB weld ? And some wire set into the JB weld ?
Under the JB weld is a pic of .040 SS safety wire just...
Didn't find a swap list. If their is one could MOD move this?
Going to use a different battery Group in my M1078. I'm going with a Group 31. Staying with a 4 battery system.
Here is a drawing of what I'm going to do.Will build a tray to hold it in the stock battery box.
Could you guy's take a...
Was looking at my 1078. Looks like the CTIS control was a after thought ?
That got me thinking. Would the CTIS from the other trucks work ? Something that could be put into the dash I'm building for my tach and Pyro and switches ?
Ideas ?
Thanks
Working on my M1078 / Cat 3116 and need some input on installing the exhaust temp sender.
The fitting I have is a 1/4" NPT. But where is the best place to cut the hole ?
Can I use grease to hold the cuttings to the tap ?
Or do I need to pull the header ?
Thanks, Randy
