Lower glass run channel - tailgate - CUCV 1986

The glass sits in the channel and has an aftermarket rubber seal to cushion glass in the track. I have not been able to find an aftermarket or used channel. My original is in pieces. Regulator and cams that go on rollers are good. I just can't roll up the glass with no channel. I...

    Windshield wiper arm

I need to replace both the windshield wiper arms, not the wiper blades, but have not figured out how to remove them. I see a tab at base of wiper assembly where it meets the male coming out of windshield. Will this tab release the windshield arm? I don't want to pry it out or push it in if it...

Where to get Flywheel for 6.2 Cucv

Thanks. The flywheel is installed. Next we put transfer case back and oil pan, starter. Fixed the main seal leak too. So, now I've a 36 year old 6.2 that should last a while longer. Engine oil cooler lines remain a puzzle. Everybody says they leak and you can't find replacements that don't...

Where to get Flywheel for 6.2 Cucv

So, I bought the flex plate and the starter. Do you know the torque spec's for the flex plate? The transfer case takes the same fluid as the transmission, right?

Where to get Flywheel for 6.2 Cucv

My truck eats a starter about every 3 years. The mechanic who installed the last starter says the flywheel is part of the problem. I'm not seeing a replacement flywheel on-line so I thought I ask if someone on the forum can point me in the right direction. The truck has been bomb-proof in...

    Blinkers on the blink

I whacked a deer, left front. Cattle guard helped but was pushed into the area surrounding headlight (pushed into housing) and parking/blinker light lens broken. Headlights and blinkers worked when I took truck for repairs. I picket it up today and neither of the blinkers blink. Headlights...

    Undercoating

Thank you. Do you know a brand or a product name for the panel adhesive?

    Undercoating

Well, it was just an idea. I'll bondo from the inside and continue to fix holes when they appear. These are great vehicles. 5+ years and counting.

    Undercoating

I've replaced the body panels that had rust holes. New tailgate, hood, quarter panel plus some bondo work. I've got holes in the floor in various places. They're not large but they're growing. I can bondo them from the inside and I thought a "commercial" undercoating company could seal the...

    1986 M1009 - tailgate window roll-up

Lmc Truck. First set of parts did not work. The riser that the glass fits in was goofed up. I returned for refund and ordered replacement that worked. The regulator replacement was okay. Biped

    Rear Differential Broke

Fort Davis is a small place. I don't know if I can get it up to look at it tomorrow but I don't see how that axle could be salvageable. I'll talk to my mechanic. Can you give me a phone or email. Your plan sounds like a really good fit. I worked in Conroe 10+ years before coming out West...

    Rear Differential Broke

Yep. It went bang a couple times before I could get it stopped. Hole in back cover. Drive shaft turns but ain't nothing happen'n inside. I'll get it up in the air and see what is broken. Being in Texas, I found militarytrucks.com north of Austin and they advertise GM 10 bolt rear axle G-80...

'86 CUCV 1009 -Left rear upper bracket - shock

My welder took every bit of 40 seconds with part in hand, "I can do it, it won't be perfect but I can do it." I had not thought of welding stud to bracket before welding to frame. I don't see why that can't be done. Looks like this will b the road I'm going down. Thanks. Tags coming to your...

'86 CUCV 1009 -Left rear upper bracket - shock

Cucvrus. The expired Texas truck plates will be heading your way tomorrow. No big deal. I'm thinking today to get my welder to take a look and give me his opinion. One corner can be welded to the old bracket and the longer piece welded to frame. More on this after he takes a look. Biped

'86 CUCV 1009 -Left rear upper bracket - shock

Welding the broken piece back on has been discussed. The weld would be mainly to the frame as this would be a short cut to dropping the tank. We'd just remove the wheel. The entire bracket is kinda horseshoe shaped with the back of the shoe having a hi ridge for the hole the shock bolt goes...

'86 CUCV 1009 -Left rear upper bracket - shock

Thanks for info about those rivets. The frame is not damaged. I want to keep it that way. Half the mount still riveted to frame, all 4 rivets. Biped

All good Richard. I'm on it. It's the left bracket i need. Bruce

'86 CUCV 1009 -Left rear upper bracket - shock

I'm ready to get it done. If Cucvrus has the part and I've got the money. Some of info I've gotten indicates this particular point on frame is subject to cracking. If I can get a bracket I will install a reinforcing kit. Biped
