    HMMWV Lug Nuts

Many USMC trucks had undercoating applied and some of this was on the hubs and nuts. You can see it on the nuts. If the nuts and studs are black and gooey, you will not be able to turn them by hand. Army Hmmwv models did not have the undercoating and had non under coated nuts and studs. These...

    M1123 A2 - Intermittent sound

If you want to check the fan clutch without unplugging anything, just turn the steering wheel all the way to the left with the engine running. Fan comes on.

    WD40 paint refresh

Pledge works much better. Soft bristle brush and pledge. It dries and the colors are much more vibrant, and the sun faded green matches the green that has not been subjected to the sun. Smells like lemons ! Takes two cans. Works wonders on clean tires too. Not shiney like Armorall. WD40 the...

Also, is the low beam burned out on the port headlight ? First indication of a grounding issue.

Also, your photo of your batteries shows a problem. The right battery needs to be rotated 180 degrees. It is hooked up properly but if it was rotated 180 degrees the cables would not cross over the bracket in the dangerous way that they do. Could short easily.

Ok so just go ahead and disconnect the batteries. Order a new box that is the latest edition along with the matching GPC. No matter what they do or don't do they should be a matched set. Connect the original leads to good glow plugs and you will be set. Dont reconnect your batteries until...

    1992 M998 First Time HMMWV

I just a guess, but there was a PCB made that had a separate glow plug harness coming out a hole near the washer reservoir. This would account for 16 glow plug leads and it is the original leads that are taped up and the other set connected. This is a very dangerous condition because that is...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

I added AC. Works....sort of. Cools truck but not like an F350 Ford where cold air is blowing on my face. 8000 BTU min and I will probably mout the gen on a hitch mount rack. Cant hear the gem on the highway. Can't hear the truck at a stoplight. Sort of cancel each other out !

I have the dubious distinction of having purchased the cheapest one sold so far at $800.

How many more HUMVEES for sale on Gov Planet?

The number of units for sale at any given time should double soon as a test of the effect of quantity on pricing strength.

Soft top install: windshield mounting point missing?

Ace Hardware has the rubber well nuts that go into the holes on the A and B pillars but you also have to buy new machine screws from Ace and that means opening the well nut packages to test the fit while nobody is looking. The rope channel that goes on the top of the windshield frame is a tough...
