Hello everyone, been away for awhile. We got 12 inches of snow the other day, Much better than last years 35. A few neighbors got stuck so I went to help them, The M1008 Did great in the unplowed spots. I wanted to test it to see just how good it was so I drove through the unplowed snow on the...
Hey everyone, I was doing some research and found some stuff that I think ya'll will find interesting, http://jgdarden.com/batteryfaq/batbrand.htm i see a lot of people wondering about batteries and comparing brands, Hope this helps someone with their decisions.
I've been getting ready to set the ole truck up for hibernation, The salt and other things they use on the roads here in PA is awful to these trucks. They rust bad enough just sitting, I don't want to help it any. I usually turn on some George Strait when things get to be a pita, sometimes it...
Very true, like anything there's always a equal and opposite reaction, it's both crazy how far technology has went in such a short time and also how far it has yet to go.
In my short life I have been hit 3 times by other vehicles, 2 in the last year. Just like that Montgomery Gentry song I always ended up starry eyed sitting on the floor listening to my dad, The first thing he drilled into my head was "DONT PLAY WITH THAT RADIO". It's hard for me to believe that...
I lost my key the other night after I got back from chasing off some people trying to mess around my property. Not to get off topic but work ethic is just like morals and good behavior, it starts at home :). I'm going in the morning to try to get at least 2 keys made. If I find the time, I have...
Today I am going to fix some leaks I found yesterday while cleaning my truck, Found 2 nice puddles on both floorboards. The weather-stripping is wore out pretty good. Other than that I oiled the door hinges and a few other things. If time permits I have 2 block heaters to put in the truck, but...
1965-1991 big blocks are "mark 4" they have provisions for a mechanical fuel pump. 1991-1995 are "gen5" No provisions for a mechanical fuel pump. 95 and later are "gen 6" HO 454 and the L19 replacement blocks have the boss. I think you would be better off using the th400 in your truck, you could...
Finally got to put in the new headlights and search down a gremlin for the pass side headlight, now have high beams on both sides :jumpin:. Finished painting the bed floor and put new belts on.
I appreciate the input guys, i greatly respect both of your opinions as I've been reading many many comments from both of you over quite a few posts. :not worthy: ill have to think things over, i am leaning towards the 4 leaf setup because I'm planning to work this truck, it'll be a little while...
Got to use the truck to pull my other truck across the property the other day, in the process of a engine rebuild with that one. I'm starting to stock up parts for the truck, fuel tank and rear drums shoes etc are on the way, still have to get king pins u joints and all the other stuff for the...
Do you have any idea how many miles that gear oil had on it since the last service?
Not sure. I know there was water in the rear diff for awhile, there was rust on the inside of the cover. Needless to say I wasn't very happy when I saw that. Lets hope it stays together! :driver:
I changed the gear oil in both diffs and I am glad I did, it looked horrible. Also seemed like the gaskets wanted to be permanent parts of both of the covers. Next on the list is king pins as well as brakes and a few odds and ends.
Thanks everyone, I'm about 20 mins from Carlisle way back in the sticks! Eventually I would like to frame off restore this truck, currently doing that to my 83 so this will have to wait a little. The guy I got this from took really good care of it, was his daily driver. I'm not really sure where...
I've been lurking on here for a little over a month and I thought id introduce myself to everyone. My name is Clayton and I bought my first MV back in april :naner:, 1985 M1008 with a little over 50k on it. I am into anything military related and a big time 73-87 Chevy guy. I have done a few...
