TSU burnt terminals - cold start problem

Yes, true…..maybe I’ll incorporate that into an under dash light to keep originality 😏

TSU burnt terminals - cold start problem

Thank you TOBASH, but I’m a bit of a purist 😁. This thing worked flawlessly for 5 years so I’m determined!

TSU burnt terminals - cold start problem

Well, shame on me, I should have followed proper troubleshooting procedures instead of going with my gut feelings. I tested a few of my new glow plugs and they are all reading high resistance, and I have the bonus of a stuck swollen one as well. I tested the original set of glow plugs and they...

TSU burnt terminals - cold start problem

The wait light comes on for the normal 8 seconds or so when cold, the only difference that I noticed is that I don’t hear the slight buzzing sound that I always heard after the wait light goes out. When warm it starts right up. Like Mogman said, I wouldn’t think there would be high current at...

TSU burnt terminals - cold start problem

So I was having problems cold starting, it would crank for about 15 seconds then start with a wonderful cloud of white smoke. So I replaced the batteries, glow plugs, Nartron white label EESS and added a ground harness. No change with cold start problem. I pulled the connector off the TSU and...

Radio chatter sound from VIC-1 and LS-671 loudspeaker

I have a VIC-1 and SINCGARS radio setup in my truck. I thought it would be neat at car/truck shows to have radio chatter out of the LS-671 loudspeaker. So I found out that if you plug in Augie's cell phone adapter via a CX-4723 to an open port any crew station, then plug in a LS-671 loudspeaker...

    Sparks on floorboard

When they demilled mine and removed the radio, they just cut the 24V power cable where it came out of the tunnel by the radio rack. The radio power cable goes direct to the batteries, had the wires touched each other or ground, it would not have been pretty. Check for any equipment that was...

    VIC-1 pics

I drilled out the lower plate to mount the VIC-1 and a crew station, which I believe is meant to be used for speakers or a VIC-3. I like how riderdan was able to get the amp and 2 crew boxes on the front by adding an extension. My speaker for the radio is not in the most ideal spot either, not...

    VIC-1 to SINCGARS cable

Thanks 86humv, All the stuff I read everywhere and somehow I missed that one. After googleing CX-13313 I found this question was answered by you back in 2011! I'll PM you when I figure out if I need any other stuff to incorporate Augie's cell phone adapter as well. Thanks

    VIC-1 to SINCGARS cable

I have SINCGARS RT-1523 connected to my VIC-1 via J501 with a CX-1330 cable. I can not get audio from my radio or Augie's cell phone adapter using J501 or J503. Looking at the TM (from the 80's) it shows the VIC-1 connected to a RT-524 with a CX-4723 cable. I tried using a CX-4723 cable, but...

    VIC 1 intercom headset question

General, I'm not familiar with that headset, but from what I have found out, the latest headset for the VIC-1 is the H-161E. The earlier versions were the H-161C, H-161D. The 161E's show up from time to time and it seems like the current rate is about $60 for a good set including the bailout...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Since we are talking VIC stuff here. I made a custom bracket to get the commanders control box squeezed under the radio rack. Then I saw riderdan's post where he lined up two control boxes and the amp in the front.....I think I like that better lol

VIC to Cellphone Adapter and Military Radio Digital Modes Adapter

Nice work! Count me in for a VIC-1 cell phone adapter. Currently I have my VIC-1 connected to my RT-1523 radio via a CX-13300 cable. I assume I could connect this to another input of the VIC-1 amp (J503?) with a CX-4723 cable?

VPC (Vehicle Power Conditioner) for VIC-1

I just installed a VIC-1. Still need to put the final touches on it and the radio. I wanted a VIC-3 that would better match the time period of the RT-1523 radio, but I could not find any. Maybe someday. I was also thinking about installing the MX-7777 conditioner, but I'm running out of room...

    HMMWV Wiring Diagram Legible

See this thread here, the diagram is for a M996 and M997, but it is similar. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?165495-Question-where-to-get-a-clearer-copy-of-a-TM&p=1985799&highlight=#post1985799

2017 mta spring show april 22-23

I'll be at the show Sat AM. Looking for a VIC-1 CX-4723 cable about 4' long and 2 H-161E/GR (NOS preferred) headset setups with bailout cables

Question: where to get a clearer copy of a TM?

Wow! I can actually read the numbers now. Thanks DatGuyC

    We need a unified voice

Looking at the post from Undysworld, it looks like Wisconsin has a good starting point that could be a model for other states. And it includes "A high-mobility multi-purpose wheeled vehicle originally manufactured for use by the U.S. military forces and commonly known by the name of "Humvee,"...

Good / Bad Comments About HMMWV's??

I agree Simp. I could care less about the mileage of an MV. But was curious and checked it. I get 11.6 MPG driving mixed highway and normal roads. M998 6.5L 4 man normal ragtop setup. People comment that it's probably single digits. Now I can say it's not.
