    MISSION: NEW CUCV

Aloha My Peeps and CUCV Crew Members!!! I hope all is well with you all. I am planning a trip to Florida in June, to see daughter, and I am simply putting it out there that I am interested in buying another M1008 (A2), etc... I was hoping someone may know of any good leads in their neck of the...

    Having electrical issues; advice needed!

Hi Curtisje... I suppose I could ask the question first. How do I get the truck started after I plug in the new interior harness at the fuse box to engine harness? What connections are to complete the starting system? Trouble shooting of this is in question. Thanks...

    Having electrical issues; advice needed!

Aloha, I am doing an interior harness replacement. I have attached pics. I am stuck as I have connected the engine harness to the 'New' stock harness, from Hillbilly Wizard. It is an original harness from another CUCV of the 1984-1986 years. I have replace the ignition switch with an AC Delco...

    CIRCUIT BOARD CONFLICTS?

My apologies. I guess I do not know what it is referred to as. It is the plastic and copper diagram backing that connects the gauges and transfers its information. On the back of the instrument panel? Dashboard panel?

    CIRCUIT BOARD CONFLICTS?

Aloha ALL, It has been quite some time since I have visited SS. I hope all is well and you are having a great Thanksgiving weekend, amid all the diversity, mayhem, and health matters. Nonetheless, I have a situation. I have had a good running M1008 for a good stretch, but it is now time to...

    Where do i find this?

Yeah, This whole endeavor started when I noticed a wobbly pulley. Probably the original. Ill take it off and examine. As for the rt side upper alternator bracket, in person would be more convincing. I look down the edges of both the upper and lower after the alternator is removed and sure...

    Where do i find this?

Yeah, cucvrus… the alternator fan spun off and hit the big fan, and then bent a couple blades. I can bend back or should I put a new one? Also, yes, a new nut for the fan that has (4), is necessary. I believe it is not out of square. I spun it around a few times... just took a hit while driving...

    Where do i find this?

Aloha, yeah... the little fan connected to the alternator stripped off. Then it hit my main cooling fan. I had noticed the missing nut, but crap... the main fan? I am going to go check right now...

M1008 6.2-flywheel to crankshaft to balancer

I read all the time about worn starter hardware... maybe it started there... ironically speaking.

M1008 6.2-flywheel to crankshaft to balancer

Would the flywheel, if cracked and junk, effect the balancer? It's just weird how I put in a new flywheel, then 1000 miles later, a new balancer.

M1008 6.2-flywheel to crankshaft to balancer

No and yes... the cover COULD be the culprit. The balancer is new and wobbly... trying to figure out all the relative.

M1008 6.2-flywheel to crankshaft to balancer

I have wondered if the grinding sound below my floor shifter, 4wheel drive, was related to my wobbly balancer. I have thought that my crank may be shot. There is no oil spilling whatsoever. I put a new flywheel about 4 thousand miles ago. New balancer about 3 thousand miles ago. Could the...

    1986 - 6.2 - crankshaft/balancer/pulley issues

Mahalo Matt5 and everyone else above. I am stuck on this one a little as I sit here and ponder the "What if that sound I heard rattling WAS the crank?" The rattling just stopped on the last start-up. It kind of just ticked... and then disappeared. I thought, at first, it was a simple timing...

    1986 - 6.2 - crankshaft/balancer/pulley issues

Okay.. I will pull the balancer, again, and replace with another new one. After that, If the balancer is wobbling immediately to 500 miles... should I be convinced the crankshaft is done? Like I pointed out, there are no leaks, which is why I have a little faith left in the fact that I am okay...

    1986 - 6.2 - crankshaft/balancer/pulley issues

I am also curious if a bad balancer would disrupt a timing chain and vice versa...

    1986 - 6.2 - crankshaft/balancer/pulley issues

There is not a spot of oil anywhere and that leads me to believe that the crank is still okay, but maybe going. I dunno...

    1986 - 6.2 - crankshaft/balancer/pulley issues

It would make a little sense. Centrifugally speaking...

    1986 - 6.2 - crankshaft/balancer/pulley issues

Thanks for your reply... You really think it is the 3/16" rubber inner ring? I thought of that... but ****.
