New Mexico members check in here!

Howdy everyone. I don’t think I’ve seen this thread before. Ive been lurking a while and don’t have a truck....yet. But, I’m a history buff and love military history. In fact, I work at a museum, though not military. Any who, I’d love to learn more about the trucks and their use in combat while...

Wreckers: Do people buy them for hobby or use?

I have thought a lot about picking up a wrecker to make some money lifting heavy stuff. I live in an area with lots of timber being cut on personal property. Plus, I could keep it busy lifting and moving hot tubs at the vacation homes around here. But, I think it would come most useful during...

6CTA8.3 engine rebuild for Sur Móvil

I hate to say, but I’m wondering if, by the time you factor parts and time, it would have been faster/cheaper to find a salvaged 8.3. Of course, you still risk it being in bad shape when you buy it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Show your 5 tons in the snow.

Hmm. That's a bummer. Do you chain it up? You have super singles or ndts? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Show your 5 tons in the snow.

You'd be surprised. I dunno where you're living, so I don't know what it's like there, but here (even though we live in New Mexico) we type I ally get some good snow in the winter time. My z71 regularly can traverse over a foot of snow, so long as it packs well. But, that vehicle is no where...

Show your 5 tons in the snow.

One thing I didn't seem to find an answer to in this thread was what the snow "fording" abilities are of these tricks. For example, if you've got a 939 series and the snow is measured in feet, would one be able to air down the tires and traverse it? Or are you pretty much relegated to something...

    Alternative fuels in modern engines

I figured it would have to be better, if people were willing to try again. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Alternative fuels in modern engines

I know lots of people used to use propane in a diesel in the same way nitro would work in a gas engine. I also knew of people who converted gas engines to propane only. It turned out to be terribly inefficient, so they ditched that idea. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Alternative fuels in modern engines

This is all really neat information. I'm just very surprised that companies want to "go green" but are making it increasingly difficult to use alternative fuels. My guess is people are in bed with oil companies. Sent from my XT1565 using Tapatalk

    Alternative fuels in modern engines

Yeah, basically I am finding that due to a combination of things, it's not really advisable in common rail engines. However, they do almost all advertise the ability to use up to a B20 blend. Although, in practice, that remains to be seen. As someone on a different forum put it regarding the...

    Alternative fuels in modern engines

So, in other words, engine makers are becoming more strict about what you can run. I guess it makes sense. I'm thinking of the Ram 3.0 Ecodiesel. When you look at the Ram 1500 HFE, everything about that truck was designed for one purpose. To be a full-size pickup getting upwards of 25 mpg with a...

    Alternative fuels in modern engines

You have a home nearby, eh? Would be neat to get to meet someone who knows something about these vehicles in person sometime. I'm not really looking for a multi fuel truck. I had thought about it, but I would get the m35 if I ended up there. What I really want is the m1087 for a conversion...

    Alternative fuels in modern engines

Hello, I will start out by saying a couple of things. First, I attempted a search for this info, but found nothing. Admittedly, my search skillz are not too great. Secondly, I do not currently own, or plan on buying in the near future, a modern diesel. This question is simply out of curiosity...

    Is the M820A2 Multi-Fuel?

Hi everyone. I know this is an old topic and somewhat of a hijack, but I was wondering if anyone had inside dimension information for the M291, or if you could point me to said info. Specifically, I am interested in finding the dimensions for each section of the box. Meaning: the expanding...
