    Black Rhino Wheels

I used to run the stock military tires and wheels with runflats and I would always get a bad vibration right around 70mph. I tried centramatics and even balancing the old wheels on a dynamic balancer, but I could never get the vibration to stop. No vibration with the new setup at 70mph. It...

    Black Rhino Wheels

Thanks! I swapped out the original 6.2L/TH400 for a Duramax/Allison combo, and had to install a 3” body lift to get clearance for the turbo intercooler pipes.

    Black Rhino Wheels

I bought the entire set as a package online at CARID.com. Total cost delivered to my garage on a wood pallet was $2,500.00.

    Black Rhino Wheels

I ended up going with the Black Rhino Armory wheels with +6 offset and 37" Nitto Ridge Grapplers. The wheel/tire combo fits well and doesn't project much beyond the wheel wells. There's a tremendous improvement in ride quality with this setup over the stock military tires and wheels.

    Black Rhino Wheels

I've read the backspacing is 7" and the offset is +50mm. Here's a link below: http://www.flashoffroad.com/features/Wheels/wheel_use.htm

    Black Rhino Wheels

Thanks for the photo. About how far do the tires project out beyond the wheel wells? Have you had any issues with the wheels?

    Black Rhino Wheels

I'm considering getting the Black Rhino Armory wheels. Several members have posted that they purchased the wheels with the -18mm offset. The wheel manufacturer shows a -18mm offset and a +6 offset available. Wouldn't the +6mm offset provide less of a tire projection outside of the wheel well...

    1994 M998 HMMWV

I have an 89 M998 that was rebuilt by VSE in 2012. They tore the vehicle down to the frame, re-painted the entire truck, and replaced any parts that were out of spec. They upgraded the brakes and hydroboost, installed a 200 amp alternator, and performed 6 Modification Work Orders or "MWO"'s...

    Power Steering Gear Box

Check the old gear to see if you have a check valve in the high pressure port. If you do, then the new unit likely wont have one, and you may need to get the new check valve and install it. My old unit had the check valve, and when I installed the new unit without the check valve, I didn't...

    Authentic Side Mirrors

Just received the following email from Rosco: The more square mirror was made by Mirror Lite in the 2008 – 2012 time frame, then Rosco purchased Mirror Lite, and stopped producing that model in lieu of our model which is the more rounded and stocked by Kascar. I don’t think you will find any...

    Authentic Side Mirrors

I called Rosco and they told me to call Kascar. The salesperson didn't seem to understand the difference in style between the rounded corner and squared corner HMMWV mirrors. I emailed Mirror Lite but haven't received a response. The mirror is described as a 12" x 8" west coast style mirror...

    Steering Gear Question

Thanks BDGR. I've only driven the one I own, and I wasn't sure if the gear was working properly.

    Jack Stands for HMMWV m998

I bought the Harbor Freight 12 Ton Jack Stands. They work well, but the Tractor supply jack stands with built in bottle jack look like a great idea. What type of jack are you using? I've been using the low profile high lift Daytona Jack from Harbor freight with a 4x4 spacer. Most jacks don't...

    Steering Gear Question

Is the steering gear in the HMMWV supposed to self-center after at turn?

    Authentic Side Mirrors

DREDnot, Is the NSN for the square mirrors different? If so, could you post it? I've been looking for those mirrors. Thanks.

    Wiper Arms Binding

I figured it out. The bushings weren't fully seated in the linkage arms. Now that I have the bushings properly seated, everything works as is should.

    Wiper Arms Binding

I had a bad wiper motor in my truck when I purchased it. When I replaced the motor, I noticed that the pivot shafts that attach to the motor did not have plastic bushings or the retaining clip installed. When I turned the wiper on, it operated the wipers, but it would make a loud clanking...

    Small (amusing) HMMWV admirer

This is a pic of me with my boys on the way to school. It's only a two block drive, but they love to drive in the M998. All of their classmates love the "Army Truck". I do enjoy seeing the looks on the faces of the kids and parents when we pull up. A dad of one of my youngest son's...
