Seems fairly common for these old Humvees to have some shake around 30-35

Mine is a 2 door soft top m998 that's the one I get 13 miles per gallon religiously doesnt matter if it's around town or 55 miles an hour

A 3l80 or turbo 400 should downshift if you press the accelerator to the floor and you're going slow enough to require the lower gear

I was actually delighted to find 13 miles per gallon with my m998 I have Street driven 600 horsepower hot rods in the past fuel use is part of the enjoyment tax

12-13 religiously and that's mixed driving

I've put 3000 trouble free miles on mine but I do check it over fairly regularly as I build Transmissions and proactive is much better than reactive 😉 Most of these people must have gotten some turds lol

It certainly does appear that many states aren't pleased with military vehicles on the highway As far as insuring them I use the lizard and they have aren't really friendly to my rates with reference to my hmmwv I can only assume it's a lack of data driving up my rates

I drive my m998 almost daily Yep she's not fast but easily reaches 60mph I'd say a test drive manually selecting 1-2-3 would tell you for sure if it will be in 3 and unable to reach north of 40 mph then you can proceed or digress accordingly
