    Anyone revert back to 24v?

A little delay waiting for the rain to stop here in the PNW to grab some photos. ;) It all seems to be working right now but the engine compartment is a mess of wires. The batteries look like a mashup out of the junkyard. The other interesting part is a pushbutton glow plug switch in the dash -...

    Anyone revert back to 24v?

Hi All, Its been a while as I got sidetracked by work and some civilian K5 rebuilds. I'm considering reverting my M1009 back to 24v. The current 12v setup seems to work but I don't know anything about how it was done (and more importantly if it was done correctly!) I suppose I could pretend I...

    Camaro seats in M1009?

The current seat foam is still intact. I just assumed 50 year old foam could use a refresh. So, trying to get new foam before recovering the seats.

    Camaro seats in M1009?

Hi All, I know there are a lot of threads about seat swaps but I actually want to retain my original front seats. Just need a foam replacement and then I'll recover. I heard or saw somewhere that the M1009 seats are actually from a 80s Camaro? If so then that foam is widely available. It makes...

    Washington M1009 (re)build thread

Haven't posted for a while and got distracted with a civvy K5 project. Thought those of you who have talked about the starter would get a kick out of this (at my expense). I drove down to San Diego with the M1009 and all was good. Stopped off for gas on the way back and was suddenly greeted with...

Anybody know what this (and leaking)?

I can believe the fuel drain (although I still think its a pretty sketchy way to cap the tube). It was a big leak and if it was differential the tube is above the differential which would indicate pressure to get it up and over and a lot of fluid loss. I'm still not sure why it would suddenly...

Anybody know what this (and leaking)?

I haven't tracked that far back yet. The rain sort of killed my ambition and I didn't feel like putting on a full kit until I had more coffee :)

Anybody know what this (and leaking)?

Yeah, that's my thinking too. Maybe some sort of breather tube but why would it have a plug init with a funky hose clamp?

Anybody know what this (and leaking)?

Hi All, I went out to continue work on my M1009 and found a puddle under the right rear leaf springs. It seems to be coming from this but with the spill mixed with rain I can't quite get a smell to tell what it is (or maybe I'm just congested)

    Washington M1009 (re)build thread

If I do any more freeway driving with it like this I’ll have to invest in a pair of “brown” pants

    Washington M1009 (re)build thread

Ok, had a trusted mechanic look it over (formerly kept the CUCVs at Camp Pendleton running). The most immediate list is: - Two leaking injectors - Leaking output shaft - Steering gear box (the loose steering) - Lower radiator hose (the coolant leak) - Water pump (more coolant leak) - Fan clutch...

Thank you for the advice. Started a new thread called "Washington M1009 (re)build thread". There's probably a way to link to it but haven't found that yet.

Sadly, not a big fan of FB and closed my account a few years ago. Do you guys have another forum?

    Washington M1009 (re)build thread

Well, it runs. Drove it for two hours to get it back to a home base. Steering is really loose, it's loud and there is some coolant leakage. Floor pans are rusted (apparently typical). Taking it to a trusted mechanic next week to get an assessment and then decide where to go next (and how much to...

    Washington M1009 (re)build thread

First up was sandblasting the wheels and then black powder coat before replacing tires (BFG All Terrain T/A 33x10.5r15) since 35 year old rubber wasn't safe

    Washington M1009 (re)build thread

Hi Everyone, As I mentioned in another thread, I've been a lurker but finally purchased an M1009. It was suggested (and a really good idea too) that I should start a thread and post pictures along the way to document the transformation. Thank you to all who have gone before to clear the path and...

Hi All, I suppose I've been a lurker for a while but finally managed to chase down and purchase an M1009. This is an amazing site full of information and I appreciate everything and everyone that has contributed to making this such a wealth of information. I'll try to keep posting my progress...
