Mine's just a 65 amp deal but that's way more power than it needs for the basic electrical system on these Deuces. I'm planning on upgrading to LED lights in the near future so I'll need even less power. You can get up to 200 amp pretty easily and relatively inexpensive.
Make sure you check the terminals on these civilian alternators. The one I bought had a loose terminal that required me to open the case and tighten it from the inside. If I hadn't caught this it would have burned the terminal up. This was an alternator from an outside vendor, not TM America...
I got movement but it is pushing up against the lower radiator hose. It's a very snug fit. I also had to use shorter 7/16" bolts to mount the lower bracket to the engine block. I'll probaby move my filter as well in the future. Thanks for the answer on the wire question. It was driving me nuts.
Finished my install. Here's the issue. There is a wire that plugged into the old military generator and I have no idea where it goes on the civilian or if it's even used
I replaced mine because the old one siezed up and would have cost more than the $650 a new one cost. I got this whole system out the door for less than $200 delivered. So for me it was cost driven. Added bonus it's smaller and lighter and more readily available.
TM America got back to me lickety spit. I think I'll go that route. I'm a firm believer that customer service and quality workmanship are still the cornerstones to a successful business. Thanks for the hellp guys.
I need to replace my alternator and am not having a lot of luck getting ahold of Wolverine technolgies. Does anyone else make a bolt on 24V alternator replacement? Thanks.
