coverter wouldnt be a problem shift points can be lowered on a at545 by adusting the cable or for more drastic changes the springs in the governor can be changed. the converter is probably around 1200 stall and that would work good with a multis power range since both engine idle about the same and are both deisels the stall would be just about the same
