I got a cheap cobra from walmart in the car. works alright with line of sight or if you're fairly close. Although I don't really speak trucker so half of it sounds pretty odd on 19.... usually something political, lot lizard this or that, DVD sales, and how no one in a 4 wheeler can can drive.... and how bad rush hour sucks....

A lot of the "how well" you can talk has to do with whether or not you tuned the swr's on the antenna............IF it is way out of wack it can actually damage the radio. Hand helds don't have this trouble but the Cobra 19 will need to have the antenna "tuned"..........you can pay a cb shop at a truck stop if you don't have an swr meter or if you like I can set it for you at haspin............I'll bring my swr meter.

Eagle,

I dont think its a 19, its just some tiny super cheap one from walmart. I don't have an SWR meter and I wont be bringing the car to haspin as it cant pull a trailer. I'll have to take you up on your offer another time. I'm probably going to turn the car into a convoy escort vehicle anyways so I'm sure you'll see it eventually. But thank you for offering to do it at haspin you're a good man.

I'm going to Quaker Steak and Lube in Colrain again on Wed. It is "Off road night" driver of any off road vehicle gets 10% off meal. I'm taking the deuce, but was thinking it could be kind of a mid point for any last minute plans that need to be made face to face for Haspin. Plus it give one more excuse to get out and have a beer.

Hey Sparky.....is your radio a Cobra? I know on them the weather side of the radio is separate from the cb side.........you might not have any transmit........some of them get messed up from bad solder on the board, you can check with a magnifying glass(or if you eyes are good, without) and see if there are any bad spots, just touch them with a nice hot solder pen and might fix it.........that is what was wrong with mine......bad joint so no transmit.

Depending on how well the work up working I may grab both for some short range convoy type stuff or part time work to hand out to other vehicles that dont have a CB that i may need to communicate to without the hassle of phoning it in. Mind if I drop in this upcoming weekend?

Come on by and I'll have them ready, more then likely will be at the shop working on the trailer.

How many new people are we going to have that have never been around an M35a2? I will be changing a tire Saturday morning and if any newbies want to see what they are getting in to, they can get their hands dirty on my truck.
