Did they staple you up Steve? The last couple of knee replacements my step-daughter had (she has had 4 to date) used staples to hold it together. Much less trouble to remove after healing.

Nice! My wife had that procedure done about 5 years ago, a couple of days after she had her staples out, she triped and fell on it, I heard a scream and went to investigate, she was standing there with the incision busted wide open! I had my granddaughter hold it together while I scrambled to find some tape to wrap around it. Took her to the hospital and her doctor stapled it back up, she had to spend the night but no harm done. She's still kicking my azz with that leg!
