So if I bolt one of the single-wire versions to my hardtop, will that be enough of a ground to make it work when power is applied? I know there are rubber seals between the various sections, but will the bolts and nuts complete a ground circuit for this light?
Try it and see, if not, run a ground wire from one of the mounting bolts to the cab tub. You should be able to pick up a good ground there.

Get one & install it in your truck, where ever you put it, cab or cargo shell, you will like it. They do the job as designed, just get it installed correctly for a power feed & you will be happy!
