Wow Steve, you are rocking and rolling on your bob project... I thought I had some tools.. I wish you were closer, I would love to hang around just to give you a hand and soak up some knowledge! I love fabrication!!

Hey Glen, this one has been more work than i expected. Mounted up some tires and installed new O rings , worked on the fuel inlet tube. Finished up the fuel system with a new sending unit. Getting close to setting the bed.

That's a ton of springs after removing all that weight. What is the part number of the shocks you selected? Are they military or commercial?

We have been working on this thing some more. Welded the mounts on the bottom fo the bed. Setup a spindle and balanced the tires, the first one was perfect, the second one i had to add two counter weights and lug nuts.

Okay. That's even cooler. If I may ask, how much did that set you back? And, is this something that could be added to a steel frame post construction? Or, is this something that needs to be designed in to the structure during fabrication?

I designed the complete structure and made the drawings and gave them to a structure engineer and he copied it and put his stamp on the drawings and charged me $2,500.00. Took me four months to make all the beams and parts and my buddies help me bolt it togther, no touch and drill needed.

I have a lot of respect for the guys that know how to work out problems (farm guys/techs) vs. the 'uber-educated' engineers who think they know how to build widgets. I am looking forward to completed pics.:grd:

I'll give Steve props for being a 2.5 Rockwell Master. He may not know everything but he knows axles! He is also a fine fabricator from the looks of his spring mounts on this bobber.
I can't wait for a drag race! His A3 bobber against my A2 bobber!
Odyessy, where are you in Florida?
