Cool pics everyone. I am wondering though, I see a lot of 46" tires on the trucks and I am thinking about putting some on mine. I am not so worried about potential rubbing as I am concerned about it being more physically harder to turn/steer the truck. You already have to muscle these trucks. Mine is a 71' deuce without any power steering or air assist for the steering.

Q: Do the larger more meater tires make it physically harder to turn street corners?
Q: How much difference is the turning radius from the stock tires to the larger 46" ?

I found this site just a couple days ago, and have spent way too much time looking and reading about a Bobbed deuce. (Never knew the word for a cut down 4x4 deuce .)
However I do have to say this is by far the nicest Deuce I have ever seen.

heres mine

VERY COOL. The variations of the bobbed jobs is amazing! There are tons of good ideas in this thread ... its part of the reason I keep bumping it to the top.

Now for the questions ...

1) I like the raised bed ... what is between the bed and the chassis?

2) The extra step on the drives side ... what is that made from?

3) My tired old eyes cannot quite make out what is painted on the hood. what does it say?

4) Is that the standard Pioneer Rack? It looks GREAT there.

and 5) Where's your taillights?

1) I kept the M105 trailer frame attached to the box. My reason is, I'd like to turn it in to a dump box eventually, when I acquire the rest of the parts. So with the frame attached, the structure is there, just add some hydraulics and a hinge point.......someday..... when I learn how to weld.....someday.

2) I made the steps out of 1" 316 stainless steel tubing. I painted them OD, and some placed some grip tape in the bottom of the hoop. With the 8" lift, and the 53's, they make it easier to get in. (I no longer have to give the wife a boost, when she rides along)

3) It was stenciled "Loud & Proud" at some point, while it served in the military. It came out of the DRMO that way, when it was auctioned off. I guess some branches/companies allowed you to name vehicles in the motorpool.

4)Yes, just a standard Pioneer tool rack. I wasn't my idea to mount it there, so I can't take credit for placing it up there. When I was bobbing the truck, the rack was on the scrap pile. A friend of mine was over at the time, and pulled it off the pile, held it up to the box, as you see, and said "you should mount this here" I like the placement, thought it added to the look, so I went with it.

5) Where's my tail lights? Um.....on the back of the truckrofl
When I bought the M105 trailer, the tail lights and mounting brackets were all smashed up. So when I mounted the box on the Deuce, I used some of the stake channel for the side racks. I capped the end of the channel for a cleaner look, other than the angle-iron that use to hold the taillights.

Here's some pictures, of what you were asking about. The picture shot from the rear, shows the tail lights, as well as the M105 trailer frame.

Guess Ill add my 2cents to this thread. As to my own bobed deuce thread I started I am turning a A3 in to a 4 door with Suicide doors ( All 4 ) I am cutting the windsheld down also. Its a soft top so it should make things go smooth. I am also raseing the dude 8" installing 1600 R20 XZL with removing one of the rear axles. I plan on using the Deuce bed so I am going to remove how much I need from the center of it. I took all the access panels from each door and I am gong to insall 9" sub woofers in each door for the stero system. I plan on building a center consol to hold the radio/CB? and amp. The truck is going to be painted custom black with the new camaro green in a pin strip form.
