how to tell the difference (looking at engine) between a 6.2 and 6.5L?

From pictures alone I dont see anything obvious.. A try to resist saying stick on the valve covers. Some have them and some dont.

If u can see the engine from behind there is a yellow tachometer in the middle of the valley if it has a bolt on the right its a 6.2 if the bolt is on the left its a 6.5

I'm no expert, but isn't it the other way around? Looking from inside the cab, bolt on left would be 6.2?

I have seen several on GP that were listed incorrectly including one I purchased (listed as a 6.2 but was actually a 6.5).

Its funny how they wanted the 6.5 takeouts to go to the rebuild program and the poor old 6.2 takeouts were left for boat anchors.

I was hoping there was a way to tell from the top and or front. It was the auction trucks Im wondering if they could be miss labeled and how I could identify that from the pictures they show.

Probably half the listings I have checked showed this area of the engine in at least one of the pics. I have found 2-3 that were mislabeled on GP including one I won.

after looking at pictures i noticed the lip where you bolt the transmission is different lengths as well
6.2 has a shorter lip
6.5 has a longer lip
