I think Damon paid about $500/pr, they are better than my HID's and a GOOD HID setup isn't cheap. You cannot put a HID bulb into a std reflector and get a good pattern.

You can find them on Ebay fairly frequently for about $500/pair. Just set up a saved search for HMMWV H1 LED HEADLIGHTS and sooner or later they will pop up. That's what I did.

I guess it really depends on just what kind of truck you're putting together. On an old M35 deuce that is in rough shape I'd say it's a waste unless you are driving lots at night. If you are making a really nice modern MV that you want to include the latest military equipment, you don't want to go without them.

Stuart is totally right, the light and pattern is second to none....

apples and oranges.

If you are working on a $3500 M35 then it's a bit extreme to drop $500 on LED's, but if you are putting together a $75,000 hemtt, why wouldn't you put in the best? It's not like these are some bling-bling Chinese blue-tinted boy-racer bulbs.... These are real American-made, modern US Military parts.....

If I wasn't selling it, I'd be adding these to my M656, low power consumption, last forever (on an MV), excellent pattern and BRIGHT!

Very cool headlamps, But I wonder how they might fare with ice & snow, Do they emit enough heat to keep themselves melted off ?
A 600$ experiment this winter,,, No I don't think so...

That is a really good point. I think it may be the LED headlight's only weakness. The LED's put out significantly less heat then incandescent, and most of it is directed out the back of the assembly, probably by design to some degree to reduce thermal signatures.... There is a heavy aluminum heatsink on the back of each bulb unit.

In the winter I have the front covered up with the winter cover and that has the lexan covers that go over the headlights..

So the heat issue is moot since any snow hits the lexan and that is a couple of inches away from the headlamp anyway.
