The tire now used is the Baja BF Goodrich…has been for quite some time, that tire I see is a 2017 date coded tire.
RWH if I could kindly ask you to share any and all safety information related to MT/Rs. I was under the impression that this sidewall issue was only for a certain year(s) of mfg, not every single one of them.

This may or MAY NOT be the word or product... so read and determine one's own needs.

HMMWV Goodyear Tire Blow-Outs:
HMMWV and Trailer Caution - Inspection Required
Goodyear Wrangler MT-R tires have a serious problem with premature wear causing multiple blow-outs, including two accidents with injuries.
Inspect these tires: 37x12 50R16 5LT load range D tire, NSN 2610-01-541-4090 (used on tire/wheel assembly, NSN 2530-01-558-2138), and load range E tires, NSN 2610-01-563-8328 (used on tire/wheel assembly, NSN 2530-01-563-8620).
The Goodyear Wrangler MT and Michelin BF Goodrich Baja T/A tires are not affected.
For the affected tires look for the DOT code on the tire sidewall. The last four digits following "DOT" indicate the week and year of manufacture. For example, 2515 means the tire was produced the twenty-fifth week of 2015.
Any of the affected tires that are older than five years, or that will exceed five years before the next scheduled maintenance, must be reported as NMC. They must be replaced even if they appear to be serviceable.
Affected tires that are less than five years old must be inspected for cracks. Pay special attention to the decorative U-channel ribs in the upper sidwalls on both sides of the tire.
Any cracks longer than 3/32nds of an inch make the tire NMC, they must be replaced.

Exhaust welded and complete.

B-pillar supports fastened and await more tube steel to complete full roll cage. This allowed for placement of shoulder harness seat belts. Also allowed for fitment of soft door hinges that tightly lock my custom doors.

Mirrors right and left sourced for $50 and unbent the brackets and now I’m street legal.

Rear seats pulled out to make way for shelf with storage and platform that can act as emergency bed for myself and or my pooch. Will keep the seat bases in case I change my mind in the future. The seats themselves will go to an infamous auction site and classifieds.

Angle iron 3” x 1/4”, and 2” x1/4” tube steel sourced and cut to length and being welded into a luggage rack and pop-top tent support and front brush guard tomorrow.

To make way for my new luggage rack, the four military Gerry can holders with straps will also go to that same infamous auction site and the classifieds.

BFG shoes go on tomorrow.

Ordered my axle boots to deal with that torn one.

Windshield sprayers and hoses being replaced in two days.

Dreading glow plug replacements over this weekend.

BFG nu shewz are on.

Not going to the gym today. Not needed.

Donor 12k rear axle with good seals harvested. Goes on tomorrow. (Too tired to do while swapping tires. )

Purchased some toys to give the M1078 some attention tomorrow. Will use the M1165 to give M1078 electrical boost to ensure electrics work.

Then will mothball the M422A1 for quite some time because that project has got to wait

Half shaft undone BUT stuck in place.

Half shaft E-brake is annoying me.

First cotter pin decided to fight.

Then the E-brake pin was rusted into the cable end.

Now the retainer ring holding the outer E-brake “tube” is stuck.

Time to stop for the night and lick my wounds.

Tomorrow will be another day.

Remove the inner half shaft bolts and drop the shaft before jacking up the truck.

Ringo Star, ( a musician from the group the Beatles for you younger kids), sang “it don’t come easy”. This truck is that song.

Pulled new looking half shaft as replacement. Upended her and found two rollers where the needle bearings popped out. Used the original half shaft as a source for the bearings and rebuilt the two units into one.

(I’m not insane… I purchased a working unit from Steve K RWH for when this fails I just wanted to get out on the offroad and have some fun).

Lost the bloody tiny little E-clip that holds the E-brake cable in place and Steve is sending a new one.

Fully filled with Diesel for the first time. Leaked when full so either vent is bad OR top gasket on fuel cell is bad. I have a brand new unused fuel cell so time to swap.

Went for some offroad and she is a beast. Needs alignment and brake rotor shaving but WOW. Heat never went above 180. Fan never actuated. Opening the circuit actuates the fan so this is not a broken unit. Just doesn’t get hot at 55 on the highway.

My removable windows work great. 4 bolts and either on or off. No muss no fuss.

Welding up luggage rack today.
