It really has been a long time since you read through the manual hasn't it??

The three lever light switch, under the accessory switch, place the top lever in "Service Drive"...don't forget to use the lower right lever to unlock it or you'll brake something

the thing is it was hard to get the switch into unlock so i stopped trying in fear of breaking it.

You have to hold the unlock switch up while you are moving the top lever. The unlock lever doesn't travel very far.
