If you go to the photo gallery on this site, click on Dr. Fosters random pictures. The 3rd photo. It is mislabled, it is not WW1, but it is the Korean war, and up to this point, we were loosing it. The photo shows the Marines landing behind the North Korean lines in the city of Inchon. The Marines are useing home made ladders to get over the sea wall from the higgins boat. The Inchon landings turned the tide for the Korean war. If you look at the photo, the Marine who is at the top, going over the sea wall is a young Lieutenant. A couple of hours later, after this photo was taken, he will throw himself on to a gernade, to save the Marines around him. He will be posthumous awarded the Medal of Honor.
