MEP-005 fuel pump/filter questions

I few months ago I replaced my day tank and found lots of crap in it.
I finally decided to check and replace/clean the fuel pump filters.

When I checked the part number for the filters it took me to the red filters below but when
I took the filters out of my original pumps I had the tan ones pictured below.
I’m curious if one filter is better than the other.

I also tested both my original pumps and found that only one works.

I have a couple spares I have questions about.

I have a pump that looks like my originals that’s got lots of crap in the filter and seems to be stuck.

I also have two facet pumps that came off a parts 004 and both seem to work although I haven’t tested them for
volume yet. I don’t know if they originally came with the generator and if they are reliable pumps.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks,
Brian

The pump that doesn't work I'm willing to bet that you can take it apart and clean it up and restore it to functionality. These things are pretty robust and there's not much that can critically fail to kill them. As for the pump strainers I couldn't tell you if there's even a difference between them other than color.

If you are day tank was dirty you might want to change the other two fuel filters and clean out the oil water separator. Let me know if you need filter numbers

I've done a lot to this generator since I purchased it in 2012 but I never had to work on the fuel pumps. I will take them apart and
see what I find. I Purchased Ray70's spin on fuel adapters and I'm installing them at the same time. Good news, I didn't find any dirt
in the fuel pump filters or other fuel filters. I did notice two of my fuel lines are soaked with fuel. Time to replace them.

Thanks,
Brian
